Does this sound right for battery usage?

Battery was at 24%.

Talked for 10 Minutes.

Now 18%.

Really? 6 %. By that rate you can get 166.6 minutes of talk time.

Does this sound right?

No apps were running in the backround.

That's really too short of a call to judge talk time with. HTC claims 312minutes of talk time but I doubt it's even that much.

^. 10 mins doesn't really make a good test.

Anyways, first thing that comes to mind is:

menu->settings->about phone->battery->battery use->cell standby.

Look for "Time without signal" and it should be less than 10 percent, if any at all. If you don't see this, it's 0. If it is over 10 percent theres a problem. It could be bad signal, poor signal+hand covering the bottom ( Don't do this...that's where the antenna is! ), or somehow you got into GSM auto instead of CDMA auto ( In this case, you'll probably see TWOS in the 40-50% range. )
