Charged the batter and popped on my Nexus One, was informed of an update straight away.. I agreed to the update/restart and the phone powered off then back on with the lil Android guy and I think a speech bubble with exclamation mark. It stayed like that for a while and I eventually pulled the battery out and put it back on, it powered on fine and didn't mention the update again. However I just notice when Im surfing the net in maps on my phone the "pinch to zoom" feature does not work...

Did I botch the update? Should I do the manual update (drag zip into SDCard) method that I read about on the forum?

    Please Please help!

Sounds like you didnt get the patch through. I did the manual patch and it was fairly easy. One thing that helped me was to restart my phone a few times after the patch to get better reception.

sounds like you didn't let it finish the update. Just my guess.

getting great reception but no pinch zoom. So the manual update, eh guys? By Now dragging it into the root of my sd card is simple as just draging the zip file into the sd card icon yes?

I did the manual option with the instructions from xda. Check the firmware version for update 1 if have it. If not redo it.
you know.. I just noticed the dock icon in the settings menu, that's new also.

:( Sounds like you might have to do a factory reset on your phone to restore it to the original OS then try the update again.

Do you get anything under settings -> about phone -> system updates?

edit: next time, you should see a little bar filling up to show the progress. I believe (though can't remember and so may be wrong) it does this two times. I recommend not touching the phone til it restarts itself ;)

this is probably not it but try renaming it "update" instead of "update.zip"
Im on windows 7 and it puts the ext. on the file with out you knowing it.

2.1 is what the phone ships with, if it had updated it would state 2.1-update1

When you get the Android and exclamation I think that you had to press power and up volume at the same time.

This thread freaked me out... I just got another Nexus today... charged it up before doing anything... then did the 2.1 update.... Luckily everything worked out fine... not a problem... Apparently there's another OTA update coming soon... it got leaked today.... but I'll wait for an official roll-out...

OP - Maybe you'll have better luck with this newer update???
