It didn't work. I got spare parts, and changed the font size to large, but it didn't change the font size in emails. Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you.

It's an Android/Google thing. You can definitely change your font size in regular Android Mail (as in IMAP with Gmail, etc.) but in the Gmail app you're stuck with the miniscule font size for now. This is a HUGE issue for many folks so I have to think it will be fixed in the future. I have to carry a pair of glasses with me for now :)

I would actually like the gmail fonts to be a little smaller, easy to scan in portrait mode and see more of the subject lines of each email. Spare Parts did not seem to have any effect on the email font size, system font size only.

You have to be under the age of 12 and have the most perfect eyes on the planet :) The forums, not just this one, are filled with "make the font scalable" so we can increase it, if desired, and be able to read it. This is an Android/Google thing...not phone specific.

If only the rest of me felt that young. I am specifically talking about the subject line/preview. The actual message font is fine, I couldn't read that well if it was any smaller. It seems that there is a good bit of wasted space there and the labels are annoyingly large too. I am Hopeful for a fix in the near future.

I cant I downloaded and installed the spare parts and as soon as I open the email program up the font sizes changes. So the text on the email remains tiny.

The Motorola Verizon Driod phone is the best phone ever but there are SO many small things I would love to change.

Can you please explain how you do this? I do not see any option for font sizes in the mail app.

Do you think we will get any kind of answer? I think there are several small bugs in the OS. Overall I have huge host that a bit more elaborate email client will be made. I need to delete from the email server but do not remove the email from the server when retrieving it. This way I can dump junk mail first and not keep all my emails on my phone. More stuff would be nice like forward? I didnt see that. Also the squares to select email should not open the email. Or there should be more area around it. I constantly open email I dont want to. Currently I do need the text to get larger.

There are a lot of folks out there who find the tiny Android font a challenge. However, I suspect its an issue of the squeaky wheel gets the attention. A request to fix the font size has been posted at Google Code Android. For any of you that feel this is something that needs fixing, add your comment here:

I'm currently a blackberry user and looking to switch to an HTC increditable phone with Verizon, but not having the ability to change the font size in email is a deal breaker for me. The ability to communicate via SMS or email is more important to me than suffering the web.

Hi all! I believe I have found a solution to the font size issue for low vision gmailers like me. It may not be perfect, but it works. Rather than access your email through the widget, go directly to gmail.com. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click "desktop". Now you can zoom in and out! I just bookmarked this page for easy access. I hope this helps!

You can also add a shortcut to home. Also, you can do the same sort of thing for google's homepage by scrolling down and choosing classic view rather than mobile view.

I have been going NUTS trying to figure a simple way to increase my font size when using Gmail. I downloaded Spare Parts and that didn't work. Although your solution requires more steps than any of us want or need to do (boo!!), it DOES work. I'm not trying to go blind anytime soon...thanks for the help!

K-9 mail has several options for font size for the message headers, the mail body text, etc. I use it for POP mail, don't know if it can be used as a Gmail client...

Until font and some and they make it easier to text and email you may want to stick with BB. I was/am a Tour user and I am on the fence about Droid especially font sizing.

K9 can be used as a gmail client as gmail supports imap. Turn on imap support in gmail.com (web site) settings.

Because it is IMAP you can easily use K9 and the Gmail app at the same time. (You can use more than one POP3 client at the same time to but you have to set it up properly.)

It takes a bit of tweaking to get k9 set up properly with gmail. Usually, it isn't so complicated but it is with gmail. Some hints:
-if you don't have custom labels you can set your namespace to [Gmail] in incoming server settings
-map the Sent folder to "Sent mail" in incoming settings
-set delete from server when I delete
-when messing with all of these settings you can "Recreate data" from the advanced menu to erase the mail from your phone and resync with google

Go to Gmail.com, and then create a bookmark.

In gmail.com, one can adjust font size easily.

So I gifted my dad an andoroid phone and he couldn't use it because of the ridiculously small font sizes. Although most apps have font size adjustments, or substitute apps with font size adjustment options. The labels on icons on the home screen and menus are still small. I am 22 years old with 20/20 vision and I found them difficult to read myself.

I came across your threads and many others were people were frustrated. After hours of searching I have finally found a solution and I hope I can help others.

    Here's what I found:
Use open home 6 to replace your home screen with. Download a font pack( I downloaded font pack 4) and from the open home 6 settings, change font sizes for wherever you require. Also, the grid on the app launcher screens now has only 4x4 apps making them much less cluttered.

I just downloaded the new version of Gmail for Android. It adds an option to adjust font size of the message body text.

Wow - you are correct! I just changed it to HUGE and it's perfect. I guess I hadn't looked at the menus in quite some time.

    Thanks.
