Droid in Europe

    I know there are a lot of other threads, but no one else seems to be looking for the same thing.

    Is there any way to get a Europe plan for Verizon's 3G coverage? I know the Droid won't work as a phone and I don't need it to. But I want internet and I don't want to have to find a hotspot every time I need access to something. I can make the occasional call through Fring/Skype but phone service is not the real issue for me.

    If not, what are my alternatives? Rent a smart phone in Europe? What about a cheapo phone with data - can I tether it to the droid? Who can I get it from? Do I order something here is the US or when I get there?

    Verizon Wireless is 45% owned by Vodafone (a UK based worldwide wireless company that operates in Europe) so if there was any sort of data signal coverage it would be through them. I think it's pretty unlikely though as GSM based phones don't use EV-DO Rev A for their 3G data connections like VZW does.

    So Droid 3G internet is out.

    What next? Is there a simple way to tether it to a European phone?
