So, I've had my Droid for 3 months now and I still can't get over how awesome it is. It is funny, because before I got it, I didn't think I really needed it and now I don't know how I would get along without it.

This is my first smart phone, so I can't really compare it to other smart phones (except the Eris which my wife has), but to date the Droid has given me know reason to wonder if there is something better. My experience yesterday kind of sums it up.

I got a call from my wife that her car had broken down. She starts telling me where she is, but I just tell her to make sure her GPS is on. I pull up maps and latitude shows me exactly where she is down to the exact parking lot. I click navigate, then pull up an audio book to listen to on the way over. Once I get there, I figure out that it is nothing that I am going to be able to fix, so I need to call the repair shop. I know where I want to go, but I don't have their number, once again I pull up maps, type in the name and click on the call button. I schedule a pick-up with them and wait for them to get there. I respond to a couple emails and google talk messages from work while I wait. In the background I have my extensive music list playing and get in a few games of sudoku as well.

Maybe I get too excited about simple things, but with my old dumb phone, this would have been so much more complicated (and boring). The Droid is not without its minor glitches, but overall my experience has been way better than I could have hoped for.

Bottom line: I love my Droid.

As the adds and commercials say, "Droid Does." This is true. Not only does your experience prove it but many other like it. I use mine daily to multi and hypertask and it has yet to fail me.

Droid is still an awesome phone! And your story just illustrates that. But I have had my Droid since day one when it launched, and still find new stuff I can do with it.

Thats great! I don't understand how you found out where she was by her turning on her GPS though? Maybe I am missing something?

    Google Latitude: Google Latitude

I believe that you can track any phone with it, but the person has to give you permission to do that. Then you should be able to see where they are at on google maps. If they have their GPS on and active it gives a really close location, ie what building they are in. If not, it gives an approximation from cell tower information I guess...

    Cool stuff.

Google Latitude will let you find other people using Latitude and plot directions right to them. If they move, when their Latitude updates, you will get updated directions. The person you are linking with has to be sharing their location with you in order to be able to do this.

Great story. Awesome use of Droid technology from start to finish!

I agree completely!! I had BB for years but to me there is no comparison. My experience with BB was that they worked great for email but you couldn't get too much going on at once or you were asking for trouble. So I made the switch to the dark side hehe

What I've found is that I don't really miss the push email all that much but the rest is just amazing. I find that I can put all the apps on that I want. Imagine that I use my Droid to entertian myself while waiting in airports etc. and install crazy stupid apps just for entertainment and get rid of the ones that are no fun. I've got some great work apps and generally productive apps and some purely entertainment apps on my droid.

I listen to music etc. and it just keeps rolling. And it never has skipped a beat since day one! I'm loving this phone and what it can do.
