I would say within 5 minutes of taking the phone off of the charger, the battery drops to 90%. I'm running stock software (2.1), ran the *228 option 2, turned off gps... tried anything simple I could find by searching.

Anyone else having this problem, or have any suggestions for me?

how long does your battery last in total? if you're getting thru a day with it, it's probably some little glitch i wouldnt worry about. if you're getting 5 hours, then i'd say there's a problem.

it updates the PRL (preferred roaming list). that is the list of towers your phone uses. it esentially keeps your coverage at its best.

it is recommended you do it every 30 days to keep your coverage at the best it can be.

it is also recommended you always do it before you leave on any sort of a trip.

*228 option 1 can be used to change ESN/program a phone

*22899 can be used to re-program your data connection. this can be used if your data is not going thru.

Mine drops to 90% ~30 mins after I unplug, and I usually get ~10 hours usage.

I've noticed this on my DX as well although not that fast, maybe 20 - 30 minutes. It always seems the first ten percent goes the quickest while the rest of the battery is consistent.

Great, thanks for the replies everyone. I'm getting decent battery life. Dependent on what I do with the phone, 7-12 hours. 7 if I watch YouTube and use the internet heavily, it'll go down quick. If I just use it for calls/texts/emails it'll go 10 or 12, maybe more.

try bringing the phone to a full charge then turn the phone off and let it sit on the charger for another half hour or so and test what happens after powering it back up.

ive heard that the battery will not FULLY charge unless it is powered off.

I charged the phone to 100% while powered off yesterday. It had the same result as my original post. But, I decided to try what you just suggested anyway. The phone sat on the charger all night, and now is powered off and charging for the next 30 minutes or so.

My battery life is awesome now. I went to the main Settings > Battery Manager > Battery Profile > Smart Mode. After setting it to Smart Mode, I opened every app and adjusted its settings/preferences. I set everything to manual refresh/update. The only apps set to hourly updates are e-mail, weather, and sports ticker. Also, setting the screen brightness level to less than 50% helps. Another tip is to avoid using live wallpapers.

What is Smart Mode? I assume something under "Custom Battery Saver" setting? Mine is currently on Nighttime Saver . I'm all for saving battery BUT don't want to lose email syncing to name one so afraid to delv into the other setting(s)...

It's under the main settings > battery manager > battery profile > then you can select Battery Smart Mode. Then you open the Battery Profile Options to select off-peak hours and data timeout to set the Smart Mode. This helped me out a bit.
