Just got off the phone with two VZW reps who couldn't give me an answer and suggested that I use VZ Navigator since Verizon can support that software, LOL. My Problem: Used Google Maps Navigator for the first time today. Was using my Motorola Car Dock I purchased and got the address put in and everything then tapped "Navigate". Si there I am and have my nice map view of the route I'm taking and every 30 or so seconds it would flip to a grey screen with multiple tiered options, first of which was "my location" and the address. Below that was the option to tap "Navigate" again which took me back to the map view as it should be. Problem is that it just kept popping back into the grey tier screen every 30 or so seconds. I took it off the dock and this doesn't seem to be happening while not on the dock although I get another message telling me to detach the charger from the wall to conserve battery...WTF? After speaking in depth with VZW reps they seem clueless. First rep told me to try and uninstall Google maps and reinstall (which come to find out I can't do after speaking to the second rep) while the second rep seemed to want to glorify his Droid Incredible and how great it was over the Droid X. he offered to reset my phone but advised I would have to sync all my contacts again, redo all my widgets and reconfigure all my e-mail addresses. Anybody else experiencing this problem with the car Dock and Google Navigation?

You did have the GPS turned on, right?
Settings / Location & security / Use GPS satellites checked

If so, was your phone "locked on' the the GPS signal?

Look at the GPS icon in the notification bar (the little satellite)
If it is animated (lines at bottom are flashing), it's trying to lock on
If they are solid (satellite and lines are constant), you have a lock

Navigation won't work without a good lock on the GPS satellites. Without a lock, it will default back to the directions screen (gray screen). Hope this helps.

used mine today worked good the first trip, the second one i had a freeze and a forced reboot. the second one i was in moving while selecting a location, wondering if that had anything to do with it.

keep us updated on your situation.

Same issue here. I used the navigation app for a 3 hour trip and it stayed in the map view the entire time. Now, a few days later it keeps dropping back to the options view (for lack of a better term) and I need to keep tapping the navigate option. The long trip was before the over the air update and the recent trips have been after the update (just a data point, not sure that it matters). When it works as expected I'm very impressed with the navigation application.

now, my droidx does not drop back to an 'options' screen if it can't get a GPS. I've noticed it has trouble locking on to a GPS in my car while I am doing 70 on the freeway, but it sits at the map screen saying "acquiring GPS". Is it more likely it drops back the the options screen because it acquires a GPS and then looses it, and its this loss that forces you back to the options screen?

Yeah, I got that too today. It clearly had GPS because on the Car Dock grey screen (I don't think this is part of Google maps, it seems like it's part of the Motorola Card Dock thing because it has the same icon screen and then has a link to Google Maps at the bottom) it was showing my location and movement accurately but when I went to Navigate, it kept saying acquiring satellite. It really got stuck, so I had to reboot while driving. Anyway, a reboot seems to fix it if you get the "aqcuiring satellite" bug.

So far I haven't had this issue of it switching back to that grey screen for no reason, but sometimes Google Nav hiccups and I have to press the blue Nav button to go back to turn-by-turn view.

I'm pretty sure we are talking about two different bugs...
