Droid X keyboard

Has anyone gotten this to successfully work? Not sure if the link below was posted.

ive been trying to get it for a while now and one site i got it off of any time i would install it it would keep force closing every time i opened my keyboard.

my phone is not rooted..its that why i cant get it , can someone help me with a good d/l link for a non-rooted user?

Are you using one of the files that fortesquieu posted here earlier this week?

I'm using the white version from fortesquieu's link successfully, and I'm not rooted. I just downloaded it and installed it, and it works.

^^ i tried d/ling that one on my phone a few days ago and it said unknown file, am i doing somthing wrong?

Uhhh theres a major issue with this one, the Z and Y are in opposite positions... its no long QWERTY its QWERTZ haha damnit! Anyone else notice this??
But i can still type twice as fast as any other keyboard on this thing. I love the DX keyboard it's the best.

same problem and than the other links wen i go to download they say there is no program to run this file ??? Wats up ?

Mine is fine (QWERTY, not QWERTZ). Probably cuz I'm using the root version?

I like the keyboard, but I hate that there are no "long press" options for numbers and symbols.

yeah i just rooted last night so i need to switch over to that one. The German one is the one that is showing up as QWERTZ and it does work fine non-rooted just use a file explorer and install it from SD and its good to go.

I'm pretty sure we all have had this keyboard all along. When you go in to Language & Keyboard, choose "Multi-Touch Keyboard", then from your input method, change to Multi-Touch.

I spent so much time trying to load it when it's already there.

Can you please link me to the english QWERTY one you installed, assuming you have that one?

I realize now...

I installed the APK from here:
DroidX Multi-touch keyboard for Froyo - xda-developers

Then by going to Language/Keyboard, select Multi Touch Keyboard.

Then go to a text message or e-mail, long hold for Touch Input, and select Multi-Touch.


Done!

Watching and waiting patiently here. I also tried the several downloads, and none worked. All force closed. Currently using the Vlingo keyboard, but wanting the Drioid X one.

I'm waiting as well. I remember the Droid X keyboard being available with 2.1, and that's probably the version thats FCing on you. That QWERTZ keyboard is awesome, if only it weren't QWERTZ..... I might finally have an acceptable replacement for the default keyboard!

Edit: Did anyone actually try installing the "rooted only" version on their non-rooted phone? Cause I just did and it worked fine! I get the user dictionary and everything, and its QWERTY. Just only install the apk (just like any other apk you would install) Here's a link to make things easy:

I did a google search and found a link to one that specifically says for Froyo, but it does not work either. (sigh) still waiting. I also don't want a QWERTZ layout.

I tried it directly from the link you provided, but it did not work either. Once i download it, i hook the phone up to the computer and trransfer the file. I then open it with Astro File MAnager, and it shows that it is installed, but evrytime i try to open it, i get a force close message. I do have the box checked for multi touch keyboard.

It just worked for me.
