So VZW will be announcing the VZW variant of the Samsung Galaxy S. Everyone expecting this and still getting the Droid X?

I didn't expect this but I should still be getting the Droid X. Two reasons: 1) Word is that Samsung doesn't support their hardware with regular updates. 2) They stripped the Fascinate of the front facing camera that was in the Samsung Galaxy S in Europe. They would've had me though if they kept that FF camera in there...atleast to try it for 30 days, LOL.

As much as I love Samsung TVs, monitors, and other electronics... their cellphones haven't been exactly impressive. It's weird because their Asian versions offer so much more than their US version.

I read the Sprint version will have the front facing camera. I wonder why Verizon is getting the version without the FF camera?

I did not see a launch date mentioned for the Fascinate. I think the T-mo Vibrant is coming out on July 23rd.

I have read where Samsung did a poor job of supporting the Behold II, so that makes me weary about buying a Samsung phone.

I still plan on getting the Droid X on July 15th.

Had a Samsung phone a while back (the Glyde)....worst touch screen ever. It was honestly such a bad experience I will NEVER buy a Samsung phone ever again. Ever. In my life.

I am going with the droid x, we've seen google and motorola develop a strong patnership, so updates will come quickly to thier phones, plus motorola has a dock for their phone even before it launches and that i like, i could careless about amoled, i use my phone for calls, not to look at vivid pictures of colorful flowers, or bunnies running around in green grass...

Replace that with Omnia 1 and its my thoughts exactly. The Omnia is what made me get a phone with a keyboard.

2 Samsungs phones I had....both not good with reception.

    X is coming.......

But this will be a nice gaming phone: 6 axis and Hummingbird cpu. The X edged past it on Quadrant, must be the cpu cuz the Galaxy has a better gpu than the X.

Well, it really seems like Samsung is coming out swinging with this one. I took a look at youtube at examples of 720p video clips from both the motorola droid and the samsung galaxy S, and the galaxy records video that is MUCH CLEARER and MUCH SHARPER, than the motorola droid. With that said, here is how I would compare them from what I have read:

    WHAT THEY HAVE IN COMMON
    1) LED flash
    2) 720p recording
    3) 45nm processors
    4) DLNA
    5) support for divx
    6) A skin over stock android UI

    WHERE MOTOROLA DROID X WINS
    1) Beat out the galaxy S in Android Central's benchmarks:YouTube - Droid X benchmark tests!
    2) Larger screen by 0.3"
    3) Greater screen resolution of 848

Doctajay, have you seen the Samsung Galaxy S doing low light video? From what I've seen from the PC World article comparing the iPhone 4, Droid X, EVO 4G, and the Samsung Galaxy S... the Droid X beats it hands down in low-light video. The Galaxy S definitely destroys the X though in bright light, when it has time to focus.

galaxy s is a nice phone. I want to see if samsungs support embraces their flaghip product. If they DO, then the upcoming galaxy Q will be a very tempting purchase when all the 2 ghz phones hit. I still prefer the X due to many reasons

ggod point man. i thin kthe reason that htc got effed was because they depended on samsung. The reason i say this is because after the incredible fiasco, htc is talking about manufacturing their own screens.

Samsung really did eff up what the incredible sales could have been. Im sure thats all fine print in their contracts somewhere. I mean, i can definitely tell it hurts the incrdible's bottom line.

Yeah that very well may lead phone manufacturers to make their own screens samsung cost htc millions im sure and even more if people decide on x rather then inc

HTC will probably never get the "Droid" branding privileges for their phones from Verizon ever again after this screw up.

I just watch this video of the Galaxy S running through Quadrant bench mark and it was a snail through I/O test. It took much longer to do the test than the Droid X did.

YouTube - Samsung Galaxy S Quadrant Benchmark (SamsungGalaxySForums.com)

However, it did seem to have about 50% better frame rate and ran the CPU test faster. The Samsung Galaxy S looks great on paper, but my fear is Samsung is going to screw up support like they always do. And the skin is going to slow down the phone tremendously like Touchwiz has always done. By the time Samsung actually updates this phone to 2.2 we'll be buying phones with 2.3 that's saying Samsung actually does update the phone.

Samsung's track record has not been so good up to today.
But as a company, one as big as Samsung Electronics, they would be making a big mistake if they don't support a phone that is launched in 100's of countries not to mention all 4 major carriers in the US. With that being said I would like a hybrid of X and Galaxy S. 4.3inch screen, hummingbird's gpu, OMap's cpu, vanilla android of X, looks of Galaxy S.
++For the techies like me samsung support wouldn't matter with a phone so widely available and so many developers/hackers available++
+++I will wait and see what HTC has in its queue+++

i love samsung and their build quality, they really are a top notch company. I hope they begin updating their products post release. It would really help their userbase if they treated their flagship products the way they treated the ypp2.

I hope they read this because the galaxy is a nice piece of hardware. Minus the toughwiz of course. I think i have played with every generation of touchwiz samsung has put out....and frankly its useless.
