My son dropped mine over the edge of a balcony on the 3rd story of a condo in Tahoe. The phone landed glass down on the rocks below. I don't think I have moved that fast before to get down and check on it. The phone was still on and not a scratch on the it. :D

My son throws mine on the floor all the time albeit the floor is wood. When he would do that with my iphone it would cause me to have to do a factory reset and restore from time to time.

True story, a mugger tried to shoot me in the chest last week. The bullet bounced off the gorilla glass and hit him in the shoulder.

I just checked on Otterbox, there's photos and and a notification field if you want to add your email to be alerted when available.

I use one of these when I'm out hiking, or mountain biking. The new ones look nice enough to use everyday. Anyway here's the link.

True story: a meteor fell on my city the other day. I panicked and started running, dropping my Captivate behind me. The meteor, whose circumference is about a mile, fell right on the phone, which was facing up. It pushed it down half a mile into the ground, crushing all the buildings and cars around it. After clearing the rubble, one fireman found it intact and brought it back to me. Not a single scratch.

Then just as I was beginning to check to see whether it still worked, a volcano erupted behind my house. It melted the whole neighborhood, but the phone was found intact and returned to me.

I examined the phone and realized, however, that the GPS on it was performing even worse than before. Which I didn't think was possible. But that's a lot of abuse though. I need a hard shell case from now on.

I woke up last night to my house being on fire. The fireman app put the fire out and saved my family's lives!!! By the time the real fire dept. showed up, I just said "please move along, nothing to see here".

I went skydiving last tuesday. It was a nice sunny day with good weather conditions. it was a little bit windy but it was great day to go skydiving. Im 30,000 thousand feet above the "Drop zone" The pilot does a count down 5-4-3-2-1...and I jump out of the plane with a super sylish front flip. But then I see my captivate fly out of my jacket mid flip!
I hesitate for a little bit to process what just happened. I frantically try and grab it but my phone starts slipping away from me, one second its 5 feet away and the next second its 10 feet away from me...my little phone picked up terminal velocity pretty quickly. I know its done for. it cant possible survive a fall of 30,000 feet...

I slow down for a little bit because I know its useless to even try and get it...but then i get to thinking wait!! thats a $600 replacement!!!

I tuck my arms against my body to become more aero dynamic...I start picking up speed rapidly...
the phone and I are now both falling at the same speed. Its still pretty far away but atleast its not gaining anymore distance.
I manage to keep my captivate in view to at least see where it lands...
the wind is actually guiding it towards the city instead of the soft field i was supposed to land on.

I open my parachute and I start gliding. I see it going towards the walmart parking lot and then DINK*** it hits the concrete base of a light post and then it bounces off and plops lifelessly on the parking lot black top; screen down without a single bounce or skid...

as I get closer to the ground I cut my parachute off with my trusty knife 10 feet off the ground and with the momentum of the speed I had I start sprinting towards my phone...
people had seen me with my parachute and they had already started to gather around the walmart entrance.

I gradually change my pace from running to a calm walk as I get closer to my phone. I pause and then I kneel down, at the same moment all of the people that had formed at the walmart entrance including the shoppers and employees form a huge circle around me. I take a look at the "crime scene" and I see glass everywhere and im thinking "wow this isnt good".
As i built up the courage to examine my phone the parking lot became super quiet!

.....I gently flip my phone over with my finger so that it can be sreen up...and it immediatley alerts me with an upbeat notification ringtone!!
hahaha a huge smile overwhelmed my face as I grabbed my phone with my right hand and thrusted my arm proudly into the air displaying my unscathed Captivate as if I had won a nobel prize..

instantaneously the people that had formed a circle around me started cheering. I do not know if they were cheering for me or my captivate but the cheers were loud. I could compare the cheers to when a brave bullfighter valiantly defeats a massive beast of a bull single handedly....

Apperently the broken glass had been there from the night before from when a car got broken into...

    Gorilla Glass is AWESOME!!!
thanks to Gorilla Glass I am scheduled to be on the tyra banks show next week...all because my phone survived being dropped from 30,000 feet!

I dropped my Captivate face down yesterday 5 ft onto a rock, the screen protector was scratched and torn in 3 places.

I freaked out until I took it off and saw, nothing but a perfect reflective gorilla glass staring back at me.

    I love this phone!

Well then. Nice story, but mine is the truth.

I inherited my phone when my brother died. He worked as a janitor at Lockheed Martin. One day, the nerds were testing their latest and greatest jet engine. Didnt bother to tell Rodger. He was mopping the floor on the other side of the room. Before he could escape, the jet engine sucked him in. Blood, guts, body parts, and dirty mop water flew out the back. Nothing bigger than a sugar cube was left. While they mopped him up, one guy discovered something. His captivate was intact! You should see the video he took of his final moments. Disturbing. Amazing quality, but just disturbing.

Anyway, that was about two weeks ago. Since then I have gone scuba diving in Arizona while listening to Slacker radio. Took it to the zoo, were it fell in the monkey cage. Used its awesome GPS ability's to find my stolen car. Followed Google Nav to Africa, where it taught an elephant to jump.
