E-mail address different than Exchange username issue

    I finally got the upgrade to 2.2 hoping for better Exchange support. While it seems to work (no stuck mail like in 2.1), I am having a new issue that I didn't have on 2.1.

    When I setup the account it asks for my e-mail address. Let's say for example, it is bubba@bubbatech.com. It later asks for my domain\username. My username is different than the first segment of my e-mail address. Let's say, for example, it is mydomain\billybob.

    Everything then connects perfectly and appears to work. When I go into Mail, however, it has changed my e-mail address to match my username so instead of bubba@bubbatech.com, I'm now billybob@bubbatech.com which isn't correct.

    I've found no way to edit it. I tried deleting the account and re-adding but couldn't find anyway to stop this from happening even when doing manual setup. It accepts my e-mail address but changes it to my username later.

    I'm getting so frustrated with Exchange support on Android! I know there are apps like Touchdown but I really think this should just work.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Welcome to the forums, erankin42.

    Sorry you're having the user name problem. I'm thinking that 2.2 is auto inputting your name after the account is set up, which means there might be a setting for that you're missing somewhere.

    I'm hoping somebody who uses Exchange on 2.2 will chime in (I don't), but maybe if you start over, really start over, by going into the Exchange app in the application manager, at menu > settings > applications > manage applications > menu > filter all, and click into Exchange then clear all that is available (not greyed out), data, cache and defaults, reboot then reconfigure, you may have success.

    Alright, I checked my exchange settings.

    If you open up your email and click on "settings" it will open the area were you can adjust all of your settings.

    In my case, my email address is considerably different than my domain name and username. (all are different).

    The system doesn't switch my email address before the @ to match my username.

    I am not sure why yours is doing that.

    I also have a POP email set up, which is different than an exchange email address. Are you sure you are selecting the right type to set up?

    Delete the account, start from scratch, this time select manual setup.

    Thanks for the replies.

    I did try manual setup and the result is no different.

    When I go into email, I see my two accounts. One is gmail, the other my exchange account.

    If I long click the exchange account, I can select account settings. None of the options allow me to change the email address.

    I don't see a settings option immediately upon entering email as you described.

    On 2.1, I had the option of changing the email address during manual account setup. No longer under 2.2.

    Am I missing a settings menu somewhere? I don't think I am.

    What device? Not all the stock apps are identical.

    If you can't find the option I'd suggest a 3rd party Exchange client. Touchdown, for example, will allow you to specify everything correctly.
