Hello, I'm new to Android and enjoying it very much but I think this may be a dumb question so bear with me!
In my instruction manual for my desire it lists three types of connection.
    EDGE, 3G and HSPA.
One is denoted by 'E', one by '3G' and one by 'H'.
I have only seen 'H' so far on my phone.
Does this mean that it's the only type of connection available for me?
Or does it mean it's the best connection available?
And if that's the case what is the order for the best connection?
Should I expect to see different letters at the top of the phone depending on the area I'm in and the reception I'm getting?
Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

It goes from worst to last, so yes, HSPA is the best available. It will always pick the best connection available to you.

Be glad you have the H. That's one of the fastest data connections currently available in the US.

I was driving in the boonies over the weekend and was getting "G", as in 1G, as in pre-Edge, data connections. Ugh.

    Thank you for your replies.
Just to be clear, is the ascending order EDGE (E) followed by HSPA (H) followed by 3G (3G)?

  5. edge then
    3g then
    hspa being the best
