    Hi all,

I am new to this forum, but have found lots of good infomation in the past, so i was hoping that you would be able to help me a lil bit, I am have some problems trying to get a custom ring tone from my SD card to the main memory, I am using OI file manager to access the SD card and I have tried copying it using that, i have also tried a number of other apps with no luck, each offers a way of customising the ring for differnt alarts but nothing from the SD card. The file I want to send over is a .wav I have a HTC desire is there a way to move the file over? I have also added the sync program from Htc but that does not help? Is there a way to move it? copy it?
I did have an idea while i was composing this message i emailed it to my self and changed the root directory from the SD card to the phone, but that didnt work either, for some reasion i cannot change the directory my internet broswer is Xscope lite. the phone also says it cannot play .wav files altho i kow it can, so nothing but fun a games here.

thanks for any and all help :)

I did it on the by mounting my phone to the computer but I simply added a new folder to the directory named "ringtones" when I put my custom tones in that folder they will show up when you select a new tone in the settings.. I did the same thing for "notifications" to change alarm and text tones.. Hope this helps...

not sure i understand you there, if i mount the phone to the pc i can only see the SD card, and using the HTC sync does not work, can only use it to back up contacts or calander stuff.

yes... when you mount it you see all the files on the SD card... don't open any of them... Make a new folder there named ringtones and put the custom tone in it and when you unmount the phone and go to sound settings to change your ringtone it'll be in there

Ok.. I just tried something... found out it is very important to have the "s" on the end of ringtones in the folder name.. add the s and it should work... also you need to make a separate folder for notifications if you want to change text and alarm tones..
