I have CTMod but would like the email I originally had. The email on the removed list is slightly different than the one I had.

In the email on the removed list you have to enter contact. The email I used to have had an option to search through the phones contacts.

Does anyone have a copy of this version?

Ask in his thread, but I "think" you may be able to use the email from the 2 point removed versions. That one is the old one. There just android stock playstore apps. Not CTMod apps, so I "think" you can use older versions. Im not positive so I would shoot over to his thread and ask.

If that's what you need ill give you the apk and its odex. Idle if it can run without it.

Does the fe16 email have the feature I mention? When emailing someone is there a button that lets you search through your phones contacts?

    hamiltonfighter@yahoo.com is my email.

Do I need to do anything special to install this app? I downloaded and extracted the file. Went to install it and received a message saying "Application not installed".

    What do?

Use a root file explorer and move it to the /system/app folder of your phone, set the permissions to match the rest of your apps, reboot and you should be good to go.

Thanks very much for posting this. Just what I was looking for to get my old aol accts on easily. I am having a problem getting it to work though (noob).

Would it be possible for you to explain in a bit more detail which file/files to move into the /system/app folder? I am using Root Browser Lite to move into the right folder and when I click on Email.apk, click Install, click on Package Installer, click on install, it starts to go but always finishes with "Application not installed". Fixed permissions and rebooted several times and doesn't want to fly for me, which I know is user error .

Thanks in advance for any help you could throw me on this!

    (my first post :))

Kouma, thanks for getting back so fast and for being integral in a total noob like me getting rooted in the first place!

One thing I am not sure about it "remount /system as writable(rw). Not sure how to do that. Sorry

that's not a very straightforward answer, because there are many different ways to do it. It depends on what tools you have available to you.

Surely the easiest method I know of is with ES File Explorer, I'm sure other root enabled explorers have a similar option.

in ES file explorer, under settings, down toward the bottom is a group of check boxes called "Root Settings"
You would make sure that Root Explorer is checked and that ES has su permission from SuperUser
then you would check the box to mount /system as writable

then you would just browse to where you have Email.apk saved, long press it, pick copy, browse to /system/app, drag the arrow for the clipboard up, pick Email.apk, pick yes for all confirmation boxes

Got ES File Explorer, root explorer checked and ES has su permission, clicked mount /system as writable, downloaded zip from link to SD card, extracted to same location on SD card, opened file and copied Email.apk, dropped it from the clipboard into the /system/app folder.....................

Don't know if this is where is goes wrong for me but I do not get any confirmation boxes to pick yes for. Just drops file in. click on the file and install option comes up. click install and still says "Application not installed". Even when I change the permissions to same as others.

Is my mistake obvious or should this be working and just isn't for some strange reason?

Would the install from zip file option in cwm do the same thing?

You are placing it in the/system/app folder INSTEAD of pressing install. You then press and hold it, and select proprieties then permissions... Make sure these permissions match the other apps in that folder, then reboot the phone.

You should now see the app in your app drawer... You DO NOT need to press it and select install.

LV, hello from up the road in skeetown. Just can't make it work. I believe the process you guys have detailed, but I am clearly missing something. Think it must be in the way that I am dealing with the zip file. downloading it on PC from link in this thread. hook phone to usb and drop it on my SD card. disconnect phone from usb. Use ES File Explorer to nav to zip file on SD card. long press on zip file. Extract to directory on on SD card. Open that folder and long press on Email.apk and click copy. Nav to /system/app and bring up clipboard and click on Email.apk to place in /system/app. long click on Email.apk and select properties. Change properties to rw r r. reboot and no joy. ES file explorer is checked for Root Explorer and Mount File System and has su permission. I have deleted everything to do with the zip file from all folders and reinstalled several times to no avail. i have bat pulled in between attempts, powered off between attempts and rebooted between attempts to no avail.

Guess at this point I'm wondering if I'm better off asking what is the best email client to get my old aol crap in one, neat place, like the stock email client did? perhaps there is a thread for that, which I will search for.

Wanna thank you guys very much for trying hard to make it work for me!!!!!! Like I said, sure it is user error. Just frustrating after working from not knowing dirt-o-rama to getting fully rooted, CTMod 3.6.8, KK 2.5, odin, cwm, link2SD, and getting a big, fat nothing on this, which seems rather simple by comparison.

Wow.. you guys just like making a big fuzz bout this email APk. Lolz
    Here's how to do it.
Ill explain with root explorer info.
1 extract the contents of the zip to the main directory of your SD card. Or a folder called email app.
2 use root explorer and explore to the email APk and its odex file.
3 you select both and copy.
4 find /system/app Directory and change it to r/w (read/write)
5 paste the two items in the directory.
6 scroll to each of the files and press (and hold) scroll down to owner and select root for both selections.
(Do this step for both items.)
7 click and hold the items again, now select the appropriate permissions.
(You can see the right permissions needed by seeing the other system apps.
    8 reboot would be recommended.
9 sign in to your email and enjoy.

Thank you for this from the image I know that it is the one I need. However I've tried every method to push it into the /System/App/ folder including the ones I've seen listed here as well as the APK installer given for the removed apps of the "CTmod. So far I've had no luck whatsoever. The reason I see them all as failures is the app has not shown itself anywhere not even in the App Drawer... So is there something more I'm over looking to why it isn't working? Sorry if I'm Necromancing the thread however.. I feel it seems that I'm not the only one having such issues.

I can try and guide you for it.
    Bit I need two things.
    1. What app are you using to move them to /system/app?
2 can you get a screenshot of the email apk AND the odes in the way they are placed inside the folder?
Ill keep watch of this thread but you can always try and message me.

Your partially correct, the apk had to bee in /system/app, but I believe that the apk also had to be signed with blooda ROM signature to work as a system app.
  20. Rarewolf

    Rarewolf Well-Known Member

So even email.apk (and odex?) Have to be signed by him to work with his rom?....
Come to think of it he DID DeOdexed his rom.
  21. JOBNED1

    JOBNED1 Member

    1. I've used both the APK Intaller zip made by Blood who also made the CTMod I use.
    2. I can do that but it seems someone else had the answer (seen in the next quote)

This makes sense and would explain my problem as well. Though I'm not sure on that because he uses older versions of the stock in the removed apps and they work I just need the updated email apk here.

Am I correct in thinking that DeOdexed mean that it was opened up and realeased for others to adapt the rom mod?
