Email Not Refreshing

i took a look through the forums and couldn't really find anything specific to my issue.

i'm using the HTC email service on a rooted Sprint Hero, Fresh 1.1 Gumbo. i have no apps installed that did not come with the ROM, my mobile is toggled on, i don't ever use wi-fi, and my email accounts are both gmail and yahoo (although my default is yahoo)...i think that covers any possible questions. anyhow the problem is sometimes my emails will not refresh at 15 minutes. this is very annoying...is there anyone that has any helpful info or solutions to this?

Are you using WiFi? Or do you have WiFi on at all times?

There is a known Glitch with Yahoo mail and WiFi using POP access...

You might be better off having your Gmail account retreive your Yahoo mail and then access it through Gmail to your phone (Hero). Just suggesting... This way you won't miss any mails...

Most of the time it is due to a hang up with an email that was not fully opened. I usually delete the last ten emails that I don't need and then refresh. That works most of the time. Otherwise you have to delete the email account altogether and then set it up again. I have only had to do this once.
BTW, my phone is NOT rooted.

nope man...no wifi, i tried that last night and discovered that defect, lol. however i am curious about the gmail retrieving my yahoo. that sounds interesting...how would i go about doing that?

    @alan

you may be onto something with this...cause typically when i refresh it kicks back up in normal retrieval. what do you mean, "email not fully opened?"

Lol... Search here in the forums, there was a thread that outlined exactly how to do the retrieval thing via Gmail. I don't use it, but from what I read it is cool, allows you to reply as well with the e-mail appearing fully like it is from Yahoo. :)

Have you tried power/down soft booting the phone? I have noticed once or twice, like one of my Gmail accounts hadn't updated for a day or two (not really used and once per day retrieval) so I soft booted and it cleared up.

    Hope that helps?

I think certain emails get hung up if you try to delete or switch before they fully download. So I set the parameters for each email to the lowest threshold (mail size limit 5K) to avoid this.

yeah, i mean...i can get it going again, either by soft booting or refreshing...but i want it to actually work without me messing with it!! lol. also i just did a search on that gmail retrieval thing and got nothing... :(

how does the 5k effect how they look? does it actually block certain emails from hitting your inbox?

download is faster and less likely to hang up and at the bottom there is always the option to download the remainder, if any.

well, i have tried the 5k to no resolution...i'm finding the 15 minute check to be very inconsistent. i have been keeping track of when it is refreshing and sometimes it's dead on - but there are other times where it will go a half hour or more. very weird... i mean, i'm not one of those people who needs email in REAL time, but it would be nice to get a reliable 15 minute push. it seems like a 'basic' feature of a phone this advanced. that's a bit disappointing.

alright...well, i'm a bit tired of this. i'm going to try fowarding my yahoo to gmail. i'm bummed about the mail app not working correctly.

Did you try deleting the account and then setting it up again?

yup...i've tried a few things. and frankly, i just want it to work without messing with it. and from what i've read and what i've experienced so far (i have now fowarded my yahoo to gmail) the gmail app is waayyyy better. the email hits the phone in near real time...which is awesome. no 15 minute pushes.
