Help email notification - website host server

Hi, can someone confirm if email notification sounds is supposed to work with any email account types? I've setup an email account on my phone for my website's admin email system but I don't get any notifications.

I can send and receive emails just fine so I know I did it right. My problem is I need a sound notification so when I'm performing a job I can hear my client's requests. I don't see myself checking my phone every few minutes to see if I received any.

Please note this had to be setup manually with Imap. It is not hotmail, not exchange and not gmail. I tried both SSL/TLS and non-SSL. I also tried factory resetting my phone. It still doesn't notify.

I did noticed 2 things;
1. All I have for settings under "accounts and sync" for this account is "General preference" which doesn't have much to play with.
2. It will notify fine if I use a typical gmail or hotmail account, so notification sounds work.

I googled this but all I find is either about gmail, hotmail or corporate exchange.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

In settings you should have both General settings and the email address. Notifications is under the email address (which is a menu like General settings).
