I was wondering if can make it so when I get a email notification in the upper left hand corner and click on it, instead of bringing it the stock email app, could I make it open the gmail app instead since I like that better?

The Gmail app has its own notifications, and clicking on them brings you to the Gmail app.

So if you're using Gmail then it should be happening already.

oh really..its weird..like when I click on the lower dock icon that just says mail it looks different than the app called gmail. The notification seems to take to me either or. Maybe I should remove my accounts from the mail app?

mail app on the bottom bar is not gmail app (you can change it).

Turn off notifications in the regular map app, so you only receiver notifications from gmail app. You're probably getting both right now.

    To change notification settings:

Go into the regular mail app (not gmail) Hit Menu button -> then go to settings and it should be in there (I don't know for sure, because my email app isn't configured at all, I only have my gmail app configured)

To change the bottom dock to display gmail app icon instead of email.

    From home screen: Go to
    1. Applications
    2. Hit Menu
    3. Select View Type
    4. Select "Customizable Grid"
    5. Hit Menu again.
    6. Hit Edit (at this point you will see all icons will get box outlines around them indicating you're in edit mode.)
    7. Press and hold gmail app icon and once it becomes movable (after a second of holding it) drag it between phone and email icons in the bottom bar.

That will throw the email icon into the app list and put gmail icon in the bottom bar.

    8. Hit back button

If you want to change your app view back to alphabetical, repeat steps 2-4 but select "alphabetical list"

    Hope this helps.

Menu button is the one of the "hard" buttons on the bottom of the phone itself. You have 4 buttons there, Menu button is the left most one.

Also, the "Back" button I mentioned in my prevous post is one of those same "hard" buttons, it's the 2nd one from the right.

Going from left to right, those buttons are:
    1. Menu
    2. Home
    3. Back
    4. Search
