Is the galaxy s pro for sprint

That rumored Galaxy S Pro is very real and very official for Sprint this evening, 'cept it's not actually called the Galaxy S Pro -- instead, it'll be known as the Epic 4G when it comes to market "in the coming months." Like the EVO 4G before it, the Epic 4G sort of blows everything out of the water on paper: 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 5 megapixel primary camera with LED flash and 720p video recording paired with a VGA front-facing cam for video calls, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, six-axis accelerometer, and a 1GHz Hummingbird core. Oh, and of course let's not forget those EV-DO Rev. A and WiMAX radios, the latter of which will earn you theoretical downlink speeds in excess of 10Mbps -- speeds that will work nicely with the phone's five-device mobile hotspot support (three devices fewer than the EVO 4G, interestingly).

As software goes, the Epic 4G will be running Samsung's reworked version of Android 2.1 offering features like DLNA support and Social Hub. In other words, this is the closest you're going to get to an EVO 4G with a landscape QWERTY slide -- and at 14.2mm thick, you're only about a millimeter and a half thicker than HTC's entry. Like AT&T's Captivate, the Epic 4G is being described as "a Galaxy S smartphone," so it's pretty clear that Samsung's looking to group all of these things under a global brand with big-time name recognition. Neither pricing nor a launch date have been announced -- but hey, the EVO deserves a few more days in the spotlight, wouldn't you say? Follow the break for Sprint's press release.

the six-axis accelerometer is the same thing as a gyroscope.

The only difference Ive read is the reaction time where a gyroscope is instant and there's a slight lag in accelerometers compared to a gyroscope, like in the new iPhone.
Do any other phones have a six axis accelerometer?
Helicopters use gyroscopes instead of accelerometers I believe.

Wow, looks sweet. I might have to trade my Evo in when this comes out. I really miss a physical keyboard!

What I want to know is 10$ charge or no? The evo gets charged because of specs but things like the camera are not as good as the Evo so I wonder if this phone does not get the charge, I hope not!!!

I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a $10 extra charge. I think the idea is that any phone that has a Wimax radio will have that fee.

However, once all the carriers have similar service there might be a change. I know I've said it before several times, but Jesus I wish Google would start a wireless service. These plans are just too expensive!!!

I'm with you there and wouldn't be surprised in the next few years to see Google move that way!

Either way I'm getting this phone!

    6 axis

    1 Ghz Hummingbird....with a better gpu than the X

    ....damn.

The X edged it out on Quadrant tho. But I figured this phone would be a better gaming phone.

It has a better gpu, but the X has a better cpu, or more RAM?

    Let the smartphone wars begin......

This phone WAS perfect for me when we were looking at the rumored specs. I cannot believe they took out the internal storage! I still love the thing, but that rained on my parade. I already have a 16gb micro sd card and was excited to have 24 or 36gb with some being internal. Oh well, I guess no phone manufacturer can get it right.

The only two things this device needs is to be a world phone and have some internal storage. Everything else (pending feel/keyboard) is perfect.

According to the spec leaks about a week ago, this phone has 8GBs of internal memory

Can you please link the spec leaks? I am also wondering whether the Epic is going to have any internal memory and from what I've read sites either do not know or say 1-2 gb. The Captivate is going to have 16gb internal, and I can only hope that the Epic has a decent amount also. Thanks

So that's legit? Just 1 GB? If so that would suck. Personally I'd rather have 16, or at least 8, and not have the keyboard. I have a feeling the answer is no, but does anyone know if Sprint will carry a non-slider version with more internal memory?

Also, I wish they would have put the memory inside and left the SD card to an aftermarket purchase, that way you could add on in the future if you needed to.

Thanks; I don't see the internal memory, but I'm glad it's slated to come with a 16gb sdhc, that's all I'll need for now.

If it gets 4G there will be a charge, other than that I love the Evo, dont like the slider phones, make it seem clunky and moving parts are subject to breaking, with my experiences anyhow. Thats why I didnt like the Droid cause its a slider. Now the Droid X seems sweet!!
