Help epic 4g

Hi..im new to android..im 50 yrs old...female...very cool ha ha...my question is ...how do i set a signature..on th epic for my texts...i set my gmail signature...but when i text out..all that shows is my formal name and phone#...so im told....i had to go to a computer for this...on the google website...but they dont seem to have a setting for the text signature..when i type it in the search bar...nothing matches
