Help epub changing to txt (unwanted )

Downloaded a few epub from different sites using Chrome and Samsung browser.

All files were changed from .epub to .txt. Is there a way to disable this 'feature?'

Is it just the file suffix is changed, or the whole documents are being converted from epub format to plain text? If it's the latter, don't think it's a browser doing it, check what format the particular sites are offering the downloads as.

We had something similar before, a music website stated the files were lossless FLAC, but what it downloaded was actually lossy MP3.

Thanks for the response. Only the extension is changing. Opening the file in notepad is scrambled with ascii symbols.

Renaming works fine but why it's changing is the problem. Samsung Galaxy with 5.1.1 if it matters.

What's the website, maybe the site itself is doing it, is it OK if you download using a PC or a Mac, a desktop system?

I've never had a browser renaming file suffixes by itself.

I understand what you're saying but it's happening on different websites. I copied the link and pasted into memo just to check, and the download links are .epub.

I will try on the desktop later.
