Would it be worth buying the Evo 4G (and paying the extra $10) if you live in a city that does not have 4G coverage but will have it by the end of the year (for example, New York, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, etc.), or should one wait until there are discounts or the like?

I'd have to cough up $60 a month (possibly) and I don't even make that much a month. Do you really think so (the only thing between me and the Evo at this point is the monthly fee).

I'm in SF and I'm moving to Davis in a month, so I thought long and hard about this too. I settled on thinking about it like this:

I'm getting one of the best 3G phones out there. It's so good, they have to charge a $10 awesome tax. It's like having a membership to a country club.

Oh, and I guess it has 4G access as a bonus too.

I'm going to say it depends where you live. In New york city expect it sometime later this year and other major cities and surrounding neighborhoods. But if you live in let say a very small populated town expect a longer wait. Put it like this if your one of them folks that come here and say i get crappy service like 1 bar or 2 then don't expect to see 4g. But for me i needs me some evo loving mhmm . My droid somehow opened the window and jumped out. Weird i say weird!!!!!!!!

worth it no matter what. Better than any other phone, cheaper than any other carrier, even with the evo tax. Totally worth the money.

Wait a minute... what am I missing... you don't make 60 a month, so I'll make the assumption your young enough to still be living with your parents. At which point i'll guess you have saved the money to buy a cell phone but can't afford any monthly service fee's?

I don't really see the point of buying the EVO without cell service, but to each his/her own.

All that aside, as a soon to be, former iPhone user imo the EVO is hands down the best pc of tech/hardware that we have seen in the smart phone world period. Don't care what the new iPhone has hardware wise, it has the ball-n-chain that is AT&T tied to it so it's still crippled.
