Sorry noob GPS question but I am going to Turks & Caicos in a couple of days.
I know the EVO is not an international phone but will the GPS function still work?
I will be driving a rental & was curious if the GPS depends on satellites or does it still require cell towers & thus would render my EVO useless as an GPS.

GPS signal does work...

but your problem will be data for maps and roads and points of interests.

solutions:
1. google maps: can cache the map data from wifi connection before you head out. you might want to try it a few times at home to see how much it can cache.
2. purchase a GPS stand alone app for your phone (ex: copilot). this puts the maps in your sdcard. you have to get it for each country you want to use it for.
