Help Extended Service and No Wifi = Lag?

I'm traveling with my Droid X and currently in northwest Oklahoma. I have no Verizon network nor do I have access to a wifi network.

My question? Would this cause my new Droid X to seriously lag? Seems like I can't swipe from screen to screen without the screen stopping even half way in the middle! I also have to try and swipe two or three times before the screen will even move.

Need some help.
