Why doesn't Facebook work on my Samsung Galaxy Centura phone? When I try to access Facebook, my phone freezes. However, all of my other applications work with no problems.
Agreed. Upon opening, the Fbook app expands up to 200MB, depending on OS. That's a quarter of what's available right there, plus your system apps.. Almost like trying to drive a Lamborghini with a lawnmower motor, Lol.Galaxy Centura, 512MB RAM, 800MHz single-core CPU, that's about as basic as you can get spec wise. I suspect the horribly bloated FB app is just too much for the poor thing.
ICS is a much smaller OS (footprint), hence the cheesy uglification of LP & M to make a smaller OS. Kk doesn't really belong on that poor device, almost like asking a weightlifter to bench his max ALL DAY. Aka: doesn't work out too well Lol [emoji12]Interesting facts, I have two phones with 512mb of ram but the one with Android 4.4.2 crashes several times a day while the other with the older 4.0.4 is very stable.
Well I regret having upgraded that phone to 4.4.2 as much as my Nexus 7 (2012) to Lollipop.ICS is a much smaller OS (footprint), hence the cheesy uglification of LP & M to make a smaller OS. Understandable. There's several LP ROMs available for my device and a reverted back to KK for same reasonsWell I regret having upgraded that phone to 4.4.2 as much as my Nexus 7 (2012) to Lollipop.
Hello Georgine!
You should try going into your device settings > Apps > Facebook, or by long pressing facebook on your app tray and clicking "edit" at the top and seeing if you can clear the App Data/Cache.
If this doesn't work try reinstalling the application, but first when you uninstall it restart your device then reinstall it.
Hope this helps.

I think you are right.....I think I need to get a better phone. I think after Christmas I am going to splurge and buy myself a better phone!
Honestly really & truly: ur better off using the browser of your choice for Fbook and maybe Messenger for their msgs. Save you a lot of headache and RAM
Anytime! Glad I could help. [emoji41]I tried this. I searched Facebook with my Browser and it works so much better and faster than with the Facebook app! I didn't know I could do this. Thank you so much for the this suggestion!
If your phone has low memory use the web version of the app. It works fairly well. The app gets bloated with so much memory it slows the phone
It's possible the problem may be with the Facebook app itself. I tried installing it on my new tablet last night and it would not install. I have 7 gigs of free memory on the tablet and so I knew that wasn't the issue. I then read the latest play store reviews for the app and apparently since it was updated 3 days ago (11/18) people who already had it installed on their devices are suddenly having all kinds of issues with it (posts not loading, pictures and videos not uploading, etc.) that they were not experiencing before the update. Look at the latest reviews for the app in the play store and you'll see what I mean.
If you have the "Google Play" app on your device open it and tap on "apps" and then tap on the little magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner. That will bring up the search bar and then just type in "Facebook" and it will pop right up. The play store is generally accessed through the Google Play app itself and it's one of those Google system apps that I think is pre installed on most, if not all, modern android devices, but I'm not certain. Just look for an app labeled "Google Play" in your apps drawer. If it's not already installed on your device I'm not sure how to go about finding it and installing it. You might be able to do so by going to playstore.com or googleplay.com.Thank you for your suggestion. I tried it and it works really well. Much better than the Facebook app!
Where is the play store? Do I go into playstore.com?
If you are addicted to Facebook then nothing can replace the Facebook app. Get yourself a better phone with at least 1gb ram. The browser version of Facebook is generally recommended for people from developing countries with low speed Internet access.
