I have the pre-installed Facebook app, but what is the one on the Market? Is it the same thing or do I need it as well? I've noticed some versions have a row of pictures on the bottom of the FB homepage (where it shows "Feeds," "Friends," etc.) but mine doesn't.

The Facebook entry on the Market also doesn't say "Installed," so is it different?

The one you have pre-installed may just be an older version. Either way FB hasn't added any new functionality that I know of so I wouldn't worry about it for the time being.
Personally I wish my FB app didn't show the row of pictures on the bottom, because I personally don't like it.

Yeah, turns out I have 1.2 and the Market has 1.3.2. I kind of don't like that row of pictures either, not that it takes up space that was otherwise well used. :)

I went to the FB mobile website today...it's surprising how good it is. Almost a substitute for the app.

I like facebook contact sync so I keep it installed, also nice having pictures for contacts/texts.

I also keep it updated, some older versions had big problems with battery.

I don't like that the contact sync always replaces my pictures with the Facebook picture though.
