I would have to say that locale is my favorite app so far. I had some trouble with it being inconsistent last week, but now it seems to be running smoothly. I'm saving battery power by having it turn off my WiFi settings while I'm at work, during work hours.

The second best would have to be Bonsai Blast, which is a more complicated and challenging game than I expected.

Any Clip!

I use it in google toolbar and send any kinds of notes to my phone.
And on the phone, just click the link or adress to run browser or map.

Plus, it has a web interface.
I use it to send app market link from my own web:

for example to send the app Music On Demand:

HTML:
<a href="http://anyclip.blueslabs.com/send?market.android.com/search?q=Music%20On%20Demand" target="_blank">
<img src="http://anyclip.blueslabs.com/static/icon.png"
border="0" alt="Send link to your phone"></a>

Or like this to post the link here:

HTML:
[URL="http://anyclip.blueslabs.com/send?market.android.com/search?q=Music%20On%20Demand"]

CardioTrainer has my vote.

Out of all the apps I downloaded (God knows how many hours of sleep I've been losing playing around with that phone), I found CardioTrainer one of the most impressive programs on the Android. The current recession has left a bit of a dent in my wallet, and I wasn't really interested in paying for any applications (Buying the G1 was my self-made promise not to spend any more money this year on non-essentials), so CT being free made it a lot easier for me to dl and use.

Of course, just being free wouldn't be enough to make me like a program, but it at least allowed me to try it. Also, being a fit freak, I installed the program and took it for a spin. Its pretty cool in that it utilizes GPS technology and Google Maps in order to pinpoint exactly where I am running. It's also got voice commands, a race against yourself option (which I find probably the most useful part of the app), and best of all, its all in my phone so I don't have to drag a crapload of hardware around with me. When I'm done with my run, I can then check out my stats and route which is uploaded on their website, www.worksmartlabs.com/cardiotrainer/about.php

SMS Popup

Something the phone should've had on it's own if you ask me. Most useful/essential app I've downloaded.

Another AF Member mentioned this point ....
Think of the G1 as a Base Unit which you added the feature you like that make the phone personally yours ... with out the BLOAT of all kinds of features you might never use ... But can easy add with a special app most of which are free or very reasonably priced ...

IMO ... it is the best of all possibilities ...!!
