Apps File Explorer in Android Studio

I'm using the Android Studio IDE 1.2.3 I'm trying to work with a database and have set up a simple sqlitedatabase example. Upon inserting something I want to check that it was. Google tells me that File explorer is the best way, browse the emulator files (do not want to root my phone). Problem is that I don't have a data/data/myApplication/databases directory(when opening file explorer in android studio), just data/data/myApplication. Anyone been in this situation? Would love any help, thanks.
