One of the guys in my office has a problem losing his phone. (he drove around with his smart phone under the front seat of his van for a year before he found it.) I need a simple app that will tell him where his phone is when he loses it. There are a ton on the market, which one works best with a mininum of permissions?
    Thanks

Well GPS is no good if its going to be under his seat or lost in a room as that will only tell him an approximate address.

So you're going to have to double up with one of those ones that makes your phone ring (even on silent) and perhaps a GPS...

Or is it simply to find it when its in the house? No need to locate it geographically?

Android Lost is good but is it true theyr gona be charging.
If youre logged into your sammy account, theres a website to control the phone (play an alarm or whatever) cant remember the daft site name though lol soz (EDIT Samsung DIVE)
I think Lookout and Prey antitheft apps do the same "scream" function

Samsung dive is the built in one, but some US carriers remove that whole functionality.

P.s, no app can turn on GPS without root mate so any tracking app relies on carrier towers and wifi (unless your m8 keeps his gps on [not recomended]) :)

Theres no issue with keeping GPS on. Mines on all the time.

You can see when it is being used as it flashes in the status bar. It only flashes on mine when I update my facebook status or use google maps. If its not in the status bar its not using power so don't worry about that.

That may be, but he does make well over six figures a year, and I do work for him. (And 18 other "bosses".) In any case, he asked me to find an app that would at least tell him the general area where his phone is located. I see a ton of them in the play store and I was just asking if any stood out.
    Thanks

Carbonite is pretty amazing. I use it for my home computer and just recently they added support for android phones. Not only does it back up every photo and video automatically from the phone it also can locate the phone (GPS on map), make it ring (even if the phone is on silent/vibrate) and also has the Bomb feature which self destructs the phone.

There is no extra fee for the phone program and I am in no way associated with Carbonite.

One of my favorite Lookout features is "Signal Flare" which uploads the phone's location to your account page at Lookout.com when the battery gets really low, so there's a record of where the phone was, just before the battery died. An app that makes the phone scream is worthless if there's no juice left.

[And I'm not associated with Lookout.]

I didn't notice any change in battery drain when I added Lookout. My battery is at 40% after 6.5 hours off the charger, but my battery widget doesn't indicate that Lookout has used the battery at all. My biggest drains (as usual) are cell standby 28%, screen 24%, Android OS 9%, Dolphin browser 8%, and Touchdown (Exchange client) 7%.
