I have had an eris, lg ally and the orginal droid. Htc sense is my favorite home/skin/whatever. If your undecied and still can switch carriers go to sprint get the evo. I like the x but... i also think the stock android or the sense better. So again just my two sense and preferences, i kinda wish i got the incredible.

    ****update****

okay, that first post maybe was bad.
what I am trying to do is help people who are on the fence about what phone to get, because I read/watched sooo much before deciding. I didn't take into account were the little things like a couple "dumb" wigets. what I miss from the original droid and the eris:
The photo Gallery - the 2.1 one that is on the nexus, and original droid.
The Keyboard - HTC Sense (long press to get the numbers and letters)
The Trackball/directional -HTC (i love that little thing)
The Contacts - The stock android contacts are simple no need for a revamp motorola
The screen size on the X is really the only pull from me in the incredible vs. x debate. If we throw in the Evo, the Evo wins. Sprint is a crappier carrier, and if you live/work in dead area, verizon has got your back.
I'm not giving up the X, I'm just trying to be helpful.
When I read the reviews I didn't find to many HTC sense fans out there. I was one, and if you like Sense and a trackball, and can live with one inch less display area; there's your answer.
    okay? okay

Sense is pretty well integrated into the OS, and it's damn pretty.
But, once you start using Vanilla Android, you will realize that all that UI stuff is just fluff and does more harm than good. Blur is really blah and takes up resources big time but it's still very stock looking and easier for the manufacturers to adapt to a newer OS.

LauncherPro is better than both of them.

I agree with you. I liked sense a LOT in my Incredible, before I gave it back. Here's the situation though. I'd rather be dying and raked over hot coals than go to either Sprint or ATT. The thing is that whatever these devices do? They are phones primarily and I need the best service. You see, if I went over to Sprint or ATT, I'd end up breaking my phone.

Why would I break it? I have been known to throw phones in the past. One time, I got so mad at my wife that I went off by myself, took my phone and went to throw it at the pillow from across the room. I missed and hit the headboard and totally destroyed it, as I was livid.

I brought the phone into Verizon tech support. I told him exACtly what happened. I told him I was livid at my wife and threw my phone. WITHOUT BATTING AN EYE, HE WENT BACK AND REPLACED IT. And that's another reason why I'd never leave Verizon. For me, Verizon tech support offers the intangibles that no one else offers. The guy knew exactly why I HAD to throw my phone and didn't even bother questioning it. He replaced it. ;) He "been there, done that"

So, if I was to leave Verizon and go to the other inferior carriers just for Sense? I'd lose my temper again and throw my phone! So, if I left and I threw my phone? I'd get NO SERVICE!

Therefore, all things considered? Verizon is the best even without Sense UI and since the reception is better on the X than the Incredible (I know, I owned an Incredible), X is the best.

You have to follow my logic. It's totally sound. DON'T MAKE ME THROW MY PHONE!!! ;)

More sprint flip phones than I can count met their demise this way, for this same reason. When I switched over to smart phones I had to stop breaking them though, it got too expensive :(

You swore you'd never throw it, never do nothin' to hurt it
    Now you're in the bedroom
    You push, pull it
Scratch, claw, hit it, throw it down, pin it
So lost in the moments when you're in em

    Poor phone

I have to respectfully disagree with the OP. I also had the Eris, and while Sense brings a nice, refined feel to the phone, it also came with a lot of bugs. I liked a lot about the Eris, but it could be really difficult to use (simple things like dialing a number presented major problems)! Not to mention other issues that I consistently see discussed with HTC Sense phones (battery life, for example). Plus, Sense is a heavy skin, so updates take longer and it just never really felt like the "Android experience" to me (whatever that means!). I'm not saying Sense is a bad experience (it's not), but it's also not for everyone and not always as great as it may seem.

I've never had a vanilla Android phone, but it seems to me that the whatever-blur that the X has is a very light skin. In fact, it seems to me that its really just a series of widgets and little more. So, probably pretty darn close to a vanilla Android experience. I actually don't really understand when people complain about the whatever-blur. It seems easy enough not to use widgets that you don't like (or get better ones from the market).

But, as I said, I've never had a vanilla Android phone, so may be totally off-base. And I'm sure someone will be more than happy to tell me if they disagree! :D

I love Sense UI. Hate MotoBlur. But I'm starting to love LauncherPro. I'll have to see what Froyo is like before I can make the call.

Oh i'm using luancher pro... its okay. Just my two sense, i was just posting for people like me who were on the fence and read all the post here. I heard good things about this new motoblur, but if your used to the htc sense, you might like the evo or incredible better. I miss the long press to get the numbers on the keyboard and i do not like the swype. The screen size on the x, i love! And ultimately i want a big screen and sense. But am also in a bad area for sprint coverage. I know there are some places sprint gets reception, and the date voice package has a better monthly price. Not throwing my x to the wolves or anything like that. If you can live with an inch less screen, consider something else. Although do not ever go with the lg ally. Now there's a phone i wanted to smash

Try out ADW Launcher if you want more of a Sense feel than Launcher Pro.

I used Launcher Pro and Launcher Pro Plus religiously at first, but now IMO ADW>Launcher Pro.

ADW let's you resize ALL widgets, scrolls slightly faster, let's you easily hide/show the notification bar, etc. It just has more options than Launcher Pro and is faster IMO.

I went from using sense to launder pro on my htc phone. What do people get so worked up about sense for? Couple people i know said they like sense better. I ask why. They say they like the weather widget. Yes. One...single...widget. They associate an entire skin with one little thing that can easily be found in the android market for any phone.

Another one said they like the leap feature. I show her my phone with launcher pro and she couldn't feel her legs anymore. It got really cold in the room...so we started talking about how stupid justin bieber was and she felt her pulse again.

Maybe i'm just not an IT getter, so someone can explain it to me without all the vague speeches about "ohhhh, it's smoooooth!".

Side note: weather widget sucked for me and someone i know. Always gave the wrong temp and didn't update when it should have. Got the weatherbug status bar app and it's been 10x better

The keyboard, i liked the keyboard better. Long press the letters to get the numbers. Its nice. That's all. I also liked the clock. And i agree the weather wiget gets a thumbs down. But the contacts, htc or stock android are nicer (vague, i know). The contacts on the x are meh. Oh oh oh track ball or optical track ball is sorely missed. Trackball!!!!!

LOL I seriously think no one would ever want to be on the receiving end of a thrown droid X, but that would make a really funny you tube video.

Don't forget. So did I own the Dinc. You are entitled to your opinion. As another side note to you, I find your manner to be somewhat crude and inflammatory. I would appreciate it if you'd re-read your posts for tone before you submit them. Thank you.
