i heard it will be released in june, it will be shown again at IO but released public in june, it would be smart if everyone woke up the 19th with an OTA update to 2.2 and flash

Well, I'm thinking (hoping) that Flash will be available on the Market for Handsets that are capable of running it AND it will be built in to 2.2. That way, Droid, etc can get it right away, but N1 will probably get Froyo during IO, so they won't need to download it. Then again, I know nothing and am just speculating...lol

At first, I thought it was all about being able to see flash on flash based websites. For me it didn't matter too much, but then I heard that once we are able to use flash, the new apps will be flash based. Apparently flash based apps are absolutely awesome! This is just hearsay though.

Flash is a big deal. The fact that Apple and Adobe have been publicly attacking each other proves that Flash will not becoming to the iPhone.

This serves as a huge advantage for Android. I for one will be happy to watch Hulu on my phone.

BTW, I've been here two days and haven't had to "suffer" the 50 flash threads so gimme a break.

Yeah, two days, pretty clear on that. LOL

I look forward to seeing more discussion on the matter, its why I'm here. One of the things I did with my Droid on the first day was go to Hulu only to find the message about flash. I'm looking forward to it.

Maybe you can tell me. What is the big debate? How is it a bad thing? Or do people not see it as such a big deal as others?

A lot of contradiction, since the Adobe Flash team have stated Flash 10.1 is not a stand-alone app and is integrated with the Android browser and the framework. I posted about this a few weeks ago on another forum asking how they were going to be able to release a beta, since they and Google both stated Flash 10.1 is built into 2.2 and part of the OS (not an app).

Folks, Flash Lite 4 can not even be installed separately. It is part of the browser core for Desire and Incredible. Flash Lite 3.1 that is in a few non 3430 (Droid) or 8250 (Inc, Desire, Nexus, etc) device and are also integrated.

Why do you folks think XDA never added Flash Lite to any roms? Because it can not be, unless a complete rom from another device and then driver issues become a factor.

BTW, Flash 10.1 will NOT work on any device unless 3430 or 8250 (or higher). As per Adobe, it was designed specifically for the OS and the chipsets.

Flash Lite 4 does a decent job on the Inc, but strangely, works a lot better with Dolphin.

Wow, that sheds some light on things. This would mean that the only way for us to install Flash would be with a firmware update. If that is ture then we should see Froyo 2.2 pretty soon. I guess they could just release an update to 2.1 but where's the fun in that? :)

Not that I doubt you, but I have read in many places that 2.2 will be launched May 19th but flash 10.1 wont be available until sometime in June. How could they be separate?

I think that Froyo will be "launched" on May 19th at Google I/O. But not launched like you think. It will not be sent out and available to us possibly until June or later, but I think Google will make the official announcement that it exists on May 19th. I still think that it will take time for it to come to us in the form of an update. Verizon still has to OK it and so on and so forth. Anyone else think this is true?

It should in theory. When I go to hulu.com and try to watch something it tells me I need Flash 10.1.

    Ditto :)

Then the Droid will probably see it before the Incredible (unless VZW holds them to release at same time), so the fun will kick in then ;) This will be a good test if Sense and HTC will cause a delay in release, compared to Google Experience devices.

I still have not decided on if I am keeping the Inc or getting a Droid again...

    added:

Since there are some contradictions already (Adobe opening for a beta Android build, but both they and Google saying it is part of 2.2 framework) who knows what will happen? There may be an "app" released, unless 2.1 already has core functions needed. If there is, there will be a TON of XDA effort to try and make it work for other devices besides the intended ones ;)

Just a word of warning. Even with flash, hulu probably won't work. Hulu blocks several architectures on their side. They block PS3, and winmo skyfire (both of which would work except hulu won't send them data.) So when we get flash, the flash message will be replaced by a "we don't support your hardware" message. Hulu has decided that mobile phones and game consoles aren't covered by their license agreement with the copyright owners.
    -D.
