any new ROMs out yet that have unlocked the fm radio on our Nexus Ones? does anyone know (who has tried) the Desire ROM, if the fm radio works? keep in mind, you need a headset plugged in to act as the antenna...

    just curious...

    cheers

The farthest progress thus far is the radio sees the stations but no sound is produced. This is on alpha 17.I'm sure more progress will be made.

Modaco has found the issue to the radio. In short it lies in the kernel which is why the Desire will be able to do it because it's standard. The kernel for the Desire, .29 does not boot on n1, so he has to find a work around. He's done this for many other apps as well.

    It's coming my friend :p

    i cant wait for this.

my gf has a stock cd deck in her car, and it does not have an aux plug or a tape deck, so i cannot plug from my phone to her radio.

if i could set my phone to a station, and use her wireless fm receiver, then it would work.

    Viralmind,

I don't think it will act as a transmitter, only as a receiver. It would be good though.

I don't know anyone who uses fm radio anymore. As I've said before, I have sirius, pandora, and mp3s. What does fm offer?

FM radio on a mobile phone is interesting but a bit irrelevant.....

The hardware is capable of transmitting, it's just a case of figuring out how to work it.

I didn't even realize it had FM. Call me older than dirt, but I would have preferred AM, lol...

yup... installed the Desire ROM this morning - it's quite cool actually! :D

and the FM Radio app is in there, and sure enough detects local stations... but no sound as stated above... :(

Hopefully soon... which at this pace, MoDaCo/Paul should hopefully have this figured out soon!

    cheers
