So I know many people dont like the fact that the droid x keyboard doesnt have the button that makes the keyboard go away. I I figured out if you just swipe down with your finger it minimizes the keyboard in the same way. I dont no if this has been discussed already if it has i apologize i havnt seen it

Very convenient feature. You can also set the xda forum's HTC_IME keyboard to do this.

This is what I love about these forums, thanks to your post I now have the HTC_IME keyboard installed. For some reason I can text really fast with it.

you can also hold the menu button for 2 seconds and it will pop up the keyboard, or take it away (when you are in a text input field)

    OH--IO
Mine does not even with it set to and this swipe your finger method from the OP does not work on mine within a text message. Where are you to try it?

The Droid X keyboard still lags for me so I use this one as my default. Thanks for the swipe tip. I saw the settings but never bothered to check out what they were for. Now I have swipe left as delete last word and swipe down to hide keyboard. You can also adjust the pop up delay so you can get to the second function of each key faster. This came in very handy as I hate having to wait so long for the question mark lol.

actually if you hit the grayed out "SEND" button the keyboard will go away (the button is grayed out when there is no text in the text field)

or just push the back arrow button on the phone. I think it closes all keyboards. now it there was a way to bring up some navigation keys.
