Does foxfi work on the One?
From the horses mouth:
Since the ONE has Jellybean installed, Foxfi will NOT work.
Some of the Motorola phones say jelly bean is now supported, they don't have the HTC One listed.
What are you trying to tether to?
I just tested this out on my T-MOBILE HTC ONE & HISENSE SERO 7 PRO Android Tablet:
1) Install FOX-FI on the phone.
2) Install PDA NET for Tablets on your Tablet.
If you use BLUETOOTH MODE, you should be able to connect,as I am using my tablet to post this as we speak, using the abovementioned.
Gonna try it on my desktop PC, be right back.......
should have been more clear.
JB on the HTC ONE is not supported using wifi. I asked the dev a day or so after release of the ONE and was told its not supported as yet.
i never tried bluetooth so cant speak on that part.
BLUETOOTH MODE is working on my desktop PC as well.On the PC side,go to BLUETOOTH OPERATIONS > ADVANCED PHONE OPERATIONS > click on DUN SERVICE ON PHONE & it should connect instantly.(Using my desktop w/BLUETOOTH Tether via FOX-FI/PDA NET+ to post this).
This is for WINDOWS 8 so,it may be slightly different for older versions of WINDOWS.
Keep us posted on your progress.
Can this be done on non-rooted phone?
I have pdanet/foxfi and usb tethering works fine as always, but I cannot get bluetooth tether to work at all. My notebook has bluetooth built in, I know wifi tethering is broken but I always heard bluetooth tethering worked alright.
My worry is that the sprint variant has some extra tweaks to BREAK bluetooth tethering as well as wifi tethering. So, for people who have the SPRINT HTC One, and THOSE PEOPLE ONLY, have you been able to use bluetooth tethering without rooting?
I am on Sprint, I installed both apps and I can tether using USB but it will not tether with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. My computer has blue tooth with Windows 7 64bit. Coming from Blackberry I had an app called tether(paid app $20.00) that I had purchased for use in a pinch and all would work. I never really used the app just purchased in case I really needed to. This is free , and will serve my needs in a pinch also but I think the problem is Sprint related. I believe I followed all steps correctly.
Wondering if I can setup my HTC One to hotspot for a few days until my Internet's hooked up.
Just moved into new house and can't get hooked up until Monday.
Is it possible? Do I need an app?
Thanks in advance.
you can attempt to use this app to gain perhaps tethered internet usage but unless you want to pay your cellular company to use hotspot on your phone, your next option is to root.
I tried Bluetooth tethering from my Sprint HTC One to Lenovo tablet and no luck. It connects, then I get message on HTC One that "... couldn't connect to the network..." that it disconnects.
EDIT: I got it working.
If this ^^^^
Wasn't so,& everyone tethered ad-nauseum,as SPRINT is unlimited, the network would be rendered unusable.
I wouldn't hold my breath awaiting a work-around,SPRINT has had this blocked for quite some time.
You might be able to BLUETOOTH tether, but,it's gonna be frustratingly slow.
Might wanna check out SPRINT's new tethering options, they're available in different MB/GB packages & prices.
Not trying to sound preachy, just speaking from experience being a former SPRINT customer/tetherer.
Can you, please, give me some guidance (links) on how to tether with USB from HTC One (Sprint) to my Lenovo tablet?
Ok, I got it working with Bluetooth tethering. I installed FoxFi (Sprint & AT&T version) on HTC One and installed PdaNet Tablet on the tablet.
I just connected the cable and it tethered.I made sure wifi was off on my computer and my ethernet cable was not connected to confirm the phone was doing the work. I have no links to provide. If you got bluetooth working I will have to try that again because it would not connect for me. I'm a novice at best when it comes to anything android or tech issues. Sorry I can't provide more details.
Thanks for reply.
As far as I understand USB tethering will not work between phone and tablet, only between phone and PC/laptop.
First time I tried Bluetooth tethering it didn't work because i used built in Bluetooth function. You need to install FoxFi (Sprint & AT&T version) app on the phone and PdaNet Tablet app on your tablet, and use Bluetooth feature in those apps.
I have grandfathered unlimited data and I'm trying to set up a wifi hotspot on my Verizon HTC One, running Android 4.2.2. From what I've read, FoxFi can do this on JB with its certificate workaround - trouble is, it never prompts me to install the certificate. I've also read that the prompt comes during a setup walkthrough - I have no setup walkthrough. Uninstalled, reinstalled, even did a factory reset - no certificate.
Anyone get it to work? Several reports from XDA that it works as long as the certificates install - I just can't get that to happen.
I just got it to work on my vzw One. It installed the vpn certificate when I tapped "Activate WiFI Hotspot" from within the Foxfi app.
I updated my phone a couple of days ago now, and I like the update except for one CRITICAL thing that guts my use of the phone.
The SPRINT 4.3 updates seems to have bricked pdanet for me. Wireless was always bricked, but now WIRED tethering does not work either.
Can anyone else with the SPRINT version of the ONE with the 4.3 update confirm if WIRED tethering with pdanet still works for them?
When I try to connect with the client on my pc it just says connecting...
and it never connects.
This is critical, I can't NOT have internet access on my computer, and I refuse to pay sprint 30 dollars for what I am already paying for.
I would guess that the Sprint HTC One with 4.3 is now a non supported device for PDAnet. This happens a lot with PDAnet and updates; if you look at their list of supported devices you will see things like "Do not update to Jellybean". Rooting may well be the only way to get it going again unless there is an update to PDAnet forthcoming.
How did you get it working? I have HTC One with Sprint and Transformer Prime. It says connected and I thought it was working but don't think it is. I have pda net on tablet connected and fox fi on phone. We have a five hour drive would love to get it to work.I'm using blue tooth.
Wifi Tether will not work with 4.3 ROM anymore. Only up to 4.2.2 ROM.
Native tether/HotSpot works fine.
I need to use Wifi Tether otherwise I would get an upsell msg from T-mo if I use Native tether.
I was using Bluetooth I know Wi-Fi quit working with JB. Mine was working for a little facebook and web but no Netflix.
