Does anyone come across any trusted free phone contacts backup apps in the Android Market? I found an apps called "backup for root users" in Android Market, but from the user review, it looks like it's very buggy.

Does anyone has any other better phone contacts backup apps to recommend?

thanks.

I just came up with a new issue.

If I change to another phone, how do I transfer the contact to it.
If both phones are using android, that's easy, what IF the new phone is NOT android.....

Anyone have idea how to do it?

It can depend on the Model of your phone

1) You can save your contacts to the Sim card then Put it in your Android handset and Import the contacts from the Sim

2) You can export your contacts from your phone {if possible} as a CSV file or vCard file then Import it via http://www.google.com/contacts

3) You can painstakingly enter each contact 1-by-1

How about taking contact from android to another non-android phone?

If I must use the copy-1-by-1 method, im going to kill the phone... :D

Or we are simply stuck with android, since they dont want you to export contact into sim. It has the function to import from sim...

Something fishy by google

Carl,

May I know how am I going to export my contacts from my Android as CSV or vCard file format before I import it via http://www.google.com/contacts??

The default HTC Sync sucks! I lost all my contacts in both phone & Outlook contacts when performed a sync! This drive me crazy!

To export it from your Android Simply log into http://www.google.com/contacts via your computer

Now on the top right of the page you should see: "Import | Export | Print" -> Simply select Export -> select "Everyone" -> Now select CSV file or vCard -> The file will now download

I am so angry with Google for letting us down. I got the hero and for a while very happy with it. THEN I needed to backup my contacts and calendar . Sync as we all know is pathetic. LOst all my calendar in puts sync with windows contacts was done and then even outlook. Then let phone sync with Google. THIS resulted in duplication of many contacts and lost some. SO I deleted them in phone and sync done with pc. There were losses, so syncd with outlook and lost all. THE most important feature in the phone is android's weakest link. If they don't come us with some thing nice soon and also get rid of cursed sim, Google and phone partition of contacts, I will switch over windows mobile.
