Well, after flashing Fresh 2.0d, a few things came to the surface right away -- has anyone seen these things as I have.

    * No mail reception, even though hookup to my mail server appears to have worked well (password, username, servers, etc.). No prob with 1.5 rooted.

    * SD Card manipulation - menus do not allow for mount and un-mount. Only mount, I believe. Cannot un-mount the SD card. The pull downs at the top do not show the options as 1.5 does. No problems with 1.5.

    * Unit will not recognize HTC Sync on the PC. It tries to find it, but never does. I am updated to 2.0.33 which works fine on 1.5. Instead of getting the little arrow circle icon at the top, I have a triangle with an exclamation mark in it.

    * When attempting to enter MARKET, I get a sign up screen for a Google account. I want nothing to do with a Google account relating to the market. I get no such behavior with 1.5 -- which goes right into the market to select applications. Works perfectly.

At this point, I just gave up. Maybe I have missed something here. Comments please.

    Thanks --- :D

Mail works fine fore me. No probs at all.

SD Card mounting is different in 2.1 than 1.5. Instead of Charge Only in the drop down, choose disk drive.

HTC Sync sucks. I have never nor will ever use it. For driver purposes I just use PDAnet.

You must have a google account to use the market.

OK, I will give it another try. So many little nuances -- I guess it just takes time to pick it all up. ;)

    Thanks!!!!!

You may have not have your Moblie Network set to Aways on - I have found when you do not have this on and have your update settings (in the Mail App) set to 1 hour or greater that the Mobile network will go into a sleep mode and not update.

You if this is the case - you can wake it up simply by accessing the mail app.

To correct this either set mobile network to always on or have the mail app update more frequently

I have been running Fresh 2.0d for a while and love it - I had Damage installed but prefer Fresh

    Hope this helps

Well guys, I gave it another try, this time with a more "orthodox" approach.

So far, it is lookin' pretty good. Some of these earlier issues are no longer, and I have it running pretty well. I am sure there is more I need to discover and implement to get things really peaked up, but right now, all the basic stuff is steaming along well. Thanks to all here for your help -- I am sure I may need a bit more since I am on the learning curve with Rootin' and Rommin' ---- :D It's great. And all with SU access !!!!!

    Thanks/Cheers --- Bob --- ;)

I've not had these issues that the OP had, but I did have a few different ones:

    1) Stuck notifications. In the top bar I'll get a new text message indicator even after reading the message. My E-Mail app (not Gmail) will say 1 unread in the home page even though ALL are read. It comes and goes, gets unstuck when it goes up to more than 1 unread and I read them all, but it comes back frequently.

    2) Keyboard lag. Actually overall it seems laggy compared to previous builds but the predictive text is especially annoying. After I hit ENTER to send a message when the last word was a predictive entry, it leaves the predictive entry field on the screen for a long time and if I start typing a new message it puts the old word in there at the beginning. VERY ANNOYING.

    3) Can't use the stock Android homescreen, it's too laggy and buggy. Surprisingly the HTC sense works way better. When I tried using the native home screen it would stop recognizing swipes (left-right to switch screens) until I hit HOME a second or third time. It would stop recognizing touches on anything, actually. Also was very annoying.

All in all I think it was a step BACKWARDS (I don't see a reason to run this instead of the previous version that wasn't 2.1 Android). It doesn't bring much to the table and introduced the above annoyances. I might just go back to 1.5 or whatever I had before...

I've had the stuck email notification on both 1.5 and 2.1. It is random.

Keyboard lag is easily addressed. Flash a different keyboard.
