I haven't rooted or flashed a new ROM to my phone yet, but I'm thinking about it. After reading Fresh 2.0d seems like a good one, especially since it doesn't have all the bloatware with it. The only app that I want from the bloatware is the Sprint Navagation. I saw the file to reinstall all the applications back, but I only want the Navagation. Does anyone know how to flash just that app to the phone and skip the rest of the Sprint bloatware?

what I did was downloaded the zip file for the removed sprint application and then I WinZipped it.

I downloaded ASTRO from the market.

I took the sprint navigation apk. file from when I winzipped the sprint application ZIP and I moved the apk into the root of my phone, disconnected from the computer, opened astro scrolled down and found sprint navigation click on it and the click install and then your done.

thats what I did I hope I explained it right and I hope it works for you....

We wouldn't normally have known this without rooting (and like y'all, I also installed the Fresh 2.0d ROM and wanted only SprintNav back), BUT -- please bear in mind that the Sprint Navigation app, while very good, is also very BIG. Like 4MB big!

I kept SprintNav installed for a couple days after installing Fresh 2.0d and compared it to the Google Maps/Navigation app that I was FINALLY able to install on my Android 2.1-ROM'med Hero. And I gotta be honest -- I started to prefer Google Maps/Nav. I prefer the routes conveyed on Google Maps by far, and you can even click on landmarks on the maps (food, gas, etc.) for additional details. Only thing I don't like about the Google app is the somewhat unnatural voice that reads directions out loud, but I can live with that.

So, I uninstalled the SprintNav app and just keep the .apk on my SD card as a backup install in case, for some reason Google Maps/Nav doesn't work. I can install an extra 3-4 apps on my Hero in the amount of space that SprintNav took up -- something to think about. :D

If you root and need Sprint Nav. just shoot me an e-mail LunaTech1@gmail.com
I have the .apk file. After you get the ROM flashed, you can use HTC sync. to install the .apk file. Really simple. Just give me an e-mail so I'll have your email addy to send it to. But as vastateofmind put it, I think I prefer google nav. over sprint nav. but I do have both on my phone.

Thanks everyone, I'll make sure I give the Google navagation a try and if I don't like it I will email Jeff (lunatech) to get the app.

I thought Sprint Nav was great until I used Google Nav. It loads up sooo much quicker and gives a route a lot quicker too. IDK what makes Sprint Nav so slow, but when I'm on the move and need directions I want the navigation app to be prompt.

Great to hear! Now I'm excited to give that a try.

I just rooted my phone for the first time today, and will be flashing Fresh 2.0d either tonight or sometime tomorrow. I'm excited to give that a try!

Is it just me, or does everyone's (who re-installed it) Sprint navigation just state the road you need to turn on BUT NOT which way you should turn??

I seem to be missing the important phrase of "turn left on...."

    weird

Go into google maps and there is a navigate feature, that is google nav. After you run it, you will get the widget.

I kinda prefer the robo-lady-voice of Google maps, it speaks in complete phrases that my wife can undertand...I'm sold.
