Just installed the Pl3X ROM...wiped system/cache, not data, installed and runs fine.

Quadrant (800MHz stock, on-demand setting in SetCPU) at 985, best I've seen is 1060 on another of the source builds (from #Koush IRC) w/the same kernel/settings, so it's very close in terms of speed.

This ROM doesn't have the Google setup wizard, but that didn't affect me (yet, anyway) since I didn't wipe Data...

@ redflea, can you sync with FB? I haven't installed yet...I'm glad I haven't though...He is already up to 2.02 already. I'm just hanging out in Koush IRC, and he has been updating the rom every few hours...heh

Same thing as with Chevy's ROM. It's a modified ROM based off the FRF57 leak. It's not compiled from Google's source code.

Doesn't mean its bad... just not built from source.

    Version 0.3 isn't from the FRF57 leak -- it's from FRF83.

So is the bb v0.3 from a source or no? Im downloading the JRummy right now but I generally prefered pete's. I want to make sure its from the source before I get it though

No, it's not from source...Pete has never made a source build ROM.

Ok im a tad bit confused.. Does it matter if its a source build or not? what advantages would a source build ROM have over a non source build if any?

With a source build the Developer can add features that you can't add if you are using a "modified" ROM. For example, in the Cyanogen ROM there is an option to "reboot" when you hold the power button down. In the Sapphire ROM, not only is there a reboot option, but it then prompts you to reboot or reboot into recovery.

Just some cool things that you wouldn't find elsewhere. Having said that, my favorite 2.1 ROM was NexBeast just because it was optimized so well...it was just simply the fastest ROM (and that was not built from source).

NP. It depends on the ROM though. Just cause it's from source...doesn't mean its a good ROM. Also, devs find ways of adding additional functionality by using scripts and things like that so a modified ROM can be really functional and well done (ie. Bugless Beast :))

Pete's BB 0.3 is definitely listed in 2-3 other places as being from source. Just because he hasn't done so before doesn't mean he can't do something new.

    True, he could...

Some people don't want a source build...they want just a better, faster, more customizable, themed version of the "official" ROM. Pete is really good at what he does and he provides this "modified build" that people are looking for. He does not theme his ROMs but his work enables other themes (defined by the user) to be applied over it.

People are taking up donations to give various models of phones to Pete so they can have Bugless Beast running on their phones as well...I'm not saying he can't build from source...but it looks like what he is doing is in very high demand ;)

Anyone try out JRummy's new stuff? I got so stoked on it I just downloaded it from Rom Manager and saved it to my SD to flash later (updating my husbands right now to Kangerade v1.1). My battery said that it was at 10% (I'm on Kangerade pink v.4.0.7) so I plugged it in and it didn't start to charge. I had to delete the files from my SD and reboot and wouldn't you know...it started to charge. Kinda sketchy.

That also brings me to another question...how and where do you get into testing this stuff? Kinda interested since that's pretty much what I do for a living anyway...might as well do some testing on something that really interests me.
