I haven't implemented any of the posted lag fixes. It seems like they create a partition for the system files, using a different file system than the one Samsung uses.

I'd like to keep my phone stock, but the lag is pretty annoying. If the issue is that Samsung is using an inefficient file system, what's the chances of these same lag problems being carried on to our Froyo build?

    Can any experts weigh in?

    Thanks!

err i am no "expert" but i will say the lag will no longer be there... seeing as you get more physical ram ( 2.1 eclair can only see / use 300 ish mb ) so you will be able to access 100% of the 512mb of ram. then froyo has it's own enhancements to make it much faster than 2.1... so honestly the chances of lag remaining are extremely slim

A couple things i can add:

    1. The Sprint Epic 4G shows no signs of this - so it appears Samsung fixed it
    2. many people have reported it to Samsung, and some of the Samsung support people on twitter do follow the developer forums - I am reasonably sure Samsung is aware of this.

I think we will see a fix in an upcoming 2.1 patch, or with 2.2.

Chances are good that the lag will still be there... An update to Froyo alone won't fix the lag, it will be up to Samsung to fix it. Although I highly suggest flashing stock firmware/lagfix/custom rom!

So we have the chances are slim the lag will be there, and we have the chances are good the lag will be there?

I know I want the first one to be true, but which is it for real?

It's fixed on the Epic, so either Samsung pushes an update out, or developers port it. Either way you shouldn't worry too much.

Thanks for all of the replies fellas. I'm going to see what the Froyo update brings and go from there. Hopefully, it will be within the next couple of weeks but that's VERY wishful thinking.

The lag annoys me but I'm riding it out. Too many risks and gotchas from the "lag fix" hacks, meanwhile we have both an update coming from Samsung as well as Froyo plenty soon, either/both of which will address lag and other things.
