Likely gone. Just have to re-do. Even if the old root protocol from eclair wont work you wont even have to wait 1 day to unroot your SF. Guaranteed the dev's will have root - ability for us

At least we will have froyo (hopefully) soon, and like saps said, root for 2.2 not-soon-after. The devs work quite quickly :)

Well that is good news.. I had until Nov. 3rd to get my phone turned back in before my 30 days were up. If we didn't have a froyo date by the 2nd it was going back and I was waiting until release date. I wanted this froyo and then to wait a year or so so that root makes it feel like a new phone.

Now I can buy accessories Yea I'm keeping it

I have had mine 27 hours and love it. Sticking with stock TW and if 2.2 is as great as expected I will likely stay stock. Coming from the originad D1, I like TW. 2.2 on the D1 was a nice upgrade.

So it might come out on November 12th? That's my birthday! Going on a trip the same day with Froyo will be great!

So would it be best to remove voodoo and root before the update? I'm guessing yes, but just looking for other opinions.

If you want it OTA you will have to I think. Or you can get it thru the xda crew and depending on whether we need a new voodoo [v.3 or whatever they call it] just flash it on that way. I dont know enough about how the filesystem works to know if they can just slap Froyo on top of the EXT4 stuff or if it needs a revision. Given your [our] tinkering nature it's safe to assume whatever Samsung gives to Verizon to push out will not be as optimized as what we can get thru xda.

Saps, this mid November release is from Samsung to Verizon, not to us, correct? So the big V had to take and mod it, hack it and de-nut it until V is happy and then they will make the OTA push to us end users. So it still might be April of 2011 before we get it!

Ok, just checking cause many posts above are acting like "we"are getting this in November, I'll be impressed to see it before the end of the of the year by V OTA. It may leak from forums earlier, but I don't expect blinding speed from big v.

ok, but heres my question- that link is just to another fan based forum... so where is this information coming from, and is it accurate? because I am not fully sure that I believe info that just comes from another forum- I want to... but is there a reliable source?

The forum that it came from cites this as a source, however, I'm still skeptical as I'm not sure how credible a source it really is.

Point is, until we have info on a specific release date from Verizon (OTA) or another known credible source, we can't be exactly sure when it will be released and all of it boils down to speculation.

yeah who knows how long it ll take verizon to skin it and push it out....what is more promising actually would be the mesmorize getting froyo as us cellular might push that out faster and already without bing :) and then with a small tweak or two we have it

Yeah because with verizon we most likely will have to wait at the minimum a few weeks after it is released and thats a stretch usually its months with verizon and they still release a buggy version when dev's take a leaked version and release it usually weeks before with much less bugs then the official ota

I'm sure that Samsung will say something on November 8th's little event if anything like Froyo is lined up in the next few days.
