Was wondering if there was a search bar widget like the one updated in Froyo,

ie Android 2.2 Froyo (unabridged) - Engadget Galleries

but available for a nonrooted DInc? Or even if there was a similar search bar widget available to d/l from the Market?

Would love to have this. I could not find anything searching the forums, Google, or the Market.

Are you talking about the google search widget?

If so it should already be on your phone. Its just called search under the widgets. (there are 2 different ones, google and htc).

*If you are talking about something different sorry for my ignorance.

Well, I have that search widget, but that only searches everything automatically. The new Froyo search widget can designate "all, contacts, web, or apps. (See Engadget article a few paragraphs down Android 2.2 'Froyo' beta hands-on: Flash 10.1, WiFi hotspots, and some killer benchmark scores -- Engadget)

I was wondering if that was the case. End of July/Early August can't come soon enough.

Doesn't the search button in the lower right corner of the phone search everything...contacts, web, etc? I use that instead of another widget.
