Help G1 Phone in Australia

Hey guys,

I recently bought a g1 android from Shanghai and brought it back to Australia. It was loaded with a Hiapk build.

This build worked OK in Australia without any APN issues.

However, I tried to install a more official version using and R7 build and I cannnot get past the Google sign in.

Do you guys know:
1) How to get past the google sign in - I only use wifi for the internet on the phone?
2) If this doesn't work, do you know where I can find the Hiapk .nbh file to reinstall?

I'm not on a data plan.
to get past the sign in I had to borrow a friends sim card (this friend had a data plan)

I threw in someone else's sim and it worked. Also RC29, the US version seemed to work for me rather than the UK RC7
