Anyone else besides me planning on jumping to the G2?

If so what are your reasons?

My reasons are HSPA+, faster processor, bigger screen, android 2.2, and hopefully better build quality and better feeling keyboard.

Also does anyone know if live wallpapers work? I doubt it since its underclocked to 800MHz.

RIP Mytouch Slide. I guess that makes E-Bay the grim reaper :D

HSPA+ if your in the coverage area.
    Processor only a little faster.
    Screen only a little larger.
    No Live Wallpaper support...

Glad I traded my MT3GS for a Vibrant. And don't plan on getting the G2. No need for a physical keyboard.

    I like your avatar!

Keep in mind your Vibrant and the Captivate are the same phone. The Mytouch Slide you traded was faster albeit at a lower resolution.

I will never have another Samsung phone after the Behold II. My Girlfriend has your Vibrant I tinkered with it once and wasn't all that impressed. Samsung's phones do a lot of stuff but gets a lot of them wrong. HTC products may not do as much (video out, night mode, avatar)
but what they do they do well.

I Think I'm going to keep my mts for a while... sure I would love it to have 2.2 so I can use more apps but that is the anything I don't like about the phone. IT Works great for me... I learn to be happy with what I have because the grass is not always greener.

Preordered mine today the girl at the tmobile store got it down to 384 bucks for me with all the extra fees. I will try getting 250-300 for my slide which I got for free so I will end up paying less than the 200 the G2 costs after discount to new customers.

It doesn't look bad but I think the only phone that'll tempt me away from the Slide in the near future would be the MyTouch HD if the leaked pictures and specs are to be believed...

    I'm waiting for a non-keyboard & non-samsung phone, so no G2.

I don't believe the the leaked specs at all.

HTC is going to keep lowballing T-mobile on their phones performance (Slide@600MHz & G2@800MHz) then all of a sudden were getting the first dual-core phone? Doubt it.

Unless its WP7 we won't see dual core first.

More news on the HD front. My opinion on this one is that it's plausible, but not confirmed. It's either an early draft of an official document or a fake... http://www.tmonews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Emerald_GG_Overview_v1.jpg.jpg

I have seen that and its just fishy.

    1) they call it dual processors not dual core
    2) why would HTC drop this phone on T-mobile now when many here would be happy with a regular snapdragon handset?
    3) why would T-mobile drop this a month after the G2 when stat wise it would kill the G2 and it's sales? I could see it being similair statwise to the G2 and both having sucess (see droid x and droid 2 for verizon)
4)it has already been stated that dual core processors won't be released until 2011

    1) Rough draft + marketing. More average consumers can grasp the meaning of "dual processor" than "dual core". Not to mention that anybody that would create a fake document like this would likely know the difference and not make that mistake.
    2) Why not?
    3) I doubt T-Mobile cares which phone draws people in, plus this doesn't have the physical keyboard many people want. These phones can co-exist much like the Droid 2 and Droid X do on Verizon.
    4) Since this looks kind of like a rough draft anyway, who's to say this wouldn't launch in 2011?

In any case, I'm not counting on a single thing shown there to be a sure thing. It would be nice if it was though...

EDIT TO ADD: From what I just read, it's just Qualcomm's dual-core processors that have been delayed til 2011. One theory has the HD using an NVidia processor...

    Guilty... I'm at work.

EDIT - ok I'm caught up now. So $384 for an upgrade preorder of the G2? Hmm, might have to stop by Best Buy on my way home.

That is what I got it for from the T-mobile store. $349 plus tax, I also got a car charger for my Slide which will work on my G2. I just stated that i was on my third Slide at the moment and was not happy with the camera or build quality.

I like the Mytouch HD too but i still want a hardware keyboard. Swype is nice but I still don't have the layout memorized enough to swype without looking at the keys and its hard to watch what you type when your fingers have to stay pressed on the screen or you lose your word, and planning out what I am going to type takes more time than just using the hardware keyboard.

Oh, didn't know it was available at Tmo. The website still says they'll email me when info is available, but so far I have received no email. Lame.

I got my last brand new Tmo phone at Costco. Great price, and they included all sorts of free shit. That was when the Samsung Blast had just come out, so that tells you how long ago that was. :p

I'd totally trade in my MTS for the G2. I wish I knew about this phone a couple of months ago. Oh well.

Sometimes I wish I would have gotten the Nexus One.

I am having second guesses here.

I am on my third slide now and the build quality of this one is horrid. It creaks worse than the first two by far, has dust under the screen already, and the keyboard is really hard to press.

So if i call back and complain they will probably try to give me a different phone and my guess is it would be a Vibrant.

With the build quality issues of the Slide I don't know whether to get an HTC phone again. Any suggestions?

Wow, that's surprising, HTC has a pretty good reputation for quality.

Either I've just had good luck or you've had rotten luck. My Slide has zero issues. No creaking and no dust even though I keep it in my pocket without a case...

My first one creaked just a little but I had to send it in because it kept dropping wifi signal even when in the same room as my router.

My second one was rock solid at first then started creaking more and more over time I sent it in because it would power cycle when going into sleep mode.

This last one I sent back just because of its shoddy feel. It was hard to slide out the keyboard, hard to press the keys, and creaked all over not just due to the back plate. I told them straight up I didn't want it because of the way it feels. I shouldn't have people I am talking on the phone with as me "what was that noise?" and have to say it was my phone.
