Galaxy Avant twrp recovery...?

Im trying to install twrp on my Samsung avant I used odin, installed cf-auto root, seemed to work fine, then installed twrp, and also seemed to work fine, it connected, said pass, I then try to put phone in download mode and it gos, right back to stock recovery, It seems to all work fine but doesn't....! My main goal is to install CM11....anyone reading this please know I've been doing this for days now. My phone works, nothing seems changed on my phone I just don't know I've followed all the tutorials and never read so much in my life. I didn't do a factory reset on my phone could that be it....?
