    Funny story...

I went to my banks atm to withdraw $300. 30 seconds later I have a receipt and no money. I now have to wait up to 10 days to get my money back. Merry Xmas everyone :)

Think of an apple computer like a pure google android experience. There's no 'carrier' bloat so to speak. Same really goes for windows really.. it's generally the extra stuff manufacturers add on that cause the problems.

Apples don't have to worry about viruses as much as Windows machines. The OS works differently.. it's very much like an iPhone. It's a walled garden approach. They're fine computers and the way they use memory made them the best at using memory-intensive programs such as video and picture editing for quite some time.. however, that's debatable nowadays. You won't run into many viruses on them (if any) for a variety of reasons, one of the lesser known ones is back in the 80's Apple had 'street cred' with the hacking community over Jobs and Woz having a relationship with one of the most respected phone hackers around. So they left the mac alone and went after dos. Of course that probably has no bearing on today's viruses but it's an interesting bit of history.

Apple computers are overpriced for what they are, but they are really the perfect computers for people who are not technically inclined. They just work without much thinking about them. And if there is an issue, rebuild desktop/repair permissions pretty much fixes it (think factory reset on android).

After playing with both ( and waiting forever for the Nexus) the Razr and NexusI know I am in the minority but I stuck with the Razr. No SD slot, only 5mp camera,no mass storage (yes I know you can drag and drop still) and it is basically made of plastic, where as the Razr is a solid built phone. I know the Nexus has a bigger and somewhat better screen ( although my Razrs screen looks great) They run basically the same hardware. The only real reason I was thinking about ditching my razr for the nexus was ICS, but from everything i've read and heard the razr will get ICS in Q1 of next year.
This post is not a knock on the Nexus by any means as it is an amazing phone( so don't think I am hating on the Nexus).
I really just wrote this post to show why I kept the razr, and did not get the Nexus.
I am sure however that others have their own reason for selecting their own device.
This post was mainly fueled by bordom. :) . Carry on guys :)

Well said! I've found macs are still the preference in the film/art world at least for indepdents. We will see how the new FCP X piece of junk chances that in the longer run but for now they're pretty safe.

In terms of cost, my desktop is a hackintosh. All the benefits I need of a Mac at less than half the cost. And yes it's legal :) because it's in a g5 case and in order to legally install OSX you just need the computer to be labeled as a Mac. I am hoping to upgrade my MBP which is now 6 this spring, other than heavy rendering, it's still doing quite well, just can't keep up with my needs. I've found Macs tend to balance somewhat of the cost by having a longer lifespan on average.

FCP X is a real travesty. Such a great opportunity for Apple to do something special with all of the new ways to shoot video (HD, DSLR, RED, GoPro/Sport cams etc..) and they went the safe route by making a powerful editor for youtube/smartphone videos. I haven't even looked at it since the first month of release but how can you not have multicam in a professional/prosumer video editing suite? Boggles the mind.

Longevity is one of the mac's strong points, however if you are not really doing any gaming a windows laptop can usually function quite well for you for years (outside of video/photo editing of course - except perhaps the newer processors).

Yeah, it was scary!! Here's how it went down: I powered the phone off, removed the standard battery and swapped it for the extended. Then I put the cover on and hit the power button. I was very surprised to see it go to the bootloader screen, especially with the message that it was downloading. It wasn't responding to touch or key presses either to begin with. I suppose its possible that I inadvertently hit the volume button when I hit power since that is such a natural hand placement. Also, not sure if it matters but my phone is unlocked but not rooted.

Its very possible that is what happened since I do typically hold the phone that way. Seeing the bootloader isn't what scared me though - it was that the phone was unresponsive and had the message "Downloading...Do not turn off target!!"

@Stigy - Sorry, haven't been able to do a fully controlled trial like you asked for in your thread, but here's my battery stats for day 1 of the extended battery; my Android OS is higher than usual, maybe these screenshots will help:

External battery finished charging at around midnight last night, so I unplugged it to let it start running down. I left 4G on, but have NFC and GPS turned off; still, as you can see from the screen on time, it's been pretty light usage overall. The Android OS spike is a bit worrisome.

I just bought an Incipio 2 piece case in a matte black finish. You cant tell who makes this phone or what carrier its on.It looks like the monolith in 2001 A Space Oddesey. (I am sure BB never saw this movie either.)

Got the same case. I love it. Buttons are pronounced and makes the phone feel sturdier. The standard that comes with it is good for watching netflix too.

I haven't seen more than 10-12 hours on my extended battery. Guess I just use it more.

    You would be correct.

Me too!! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I figure if I wasn't using the Phandroid app, and playing words and hanging with friends it would last a lot longer.

Got a kick outta these posts. I get 10-12 on mine, but keep lots of stuffs going and still use a good bit, but restrict myself from use to the point it's quite annoying not feeling it up all the time.
