I think that the newer ruby red is explicitly called the SGS3 4G LTE by Samsung, originally announced for Australia and shortly thereafter for the UK.

The naming is causing confusion on both sides because here, it's just called the SGS3, same name as the one offered there originally, but with a different main processor, ram, and already 4g lte capable. (Ours have been this way since their USA debut months ago.)

And then there is the Korean variation that is quad core, lte capable.

The thing to know about the US market is that we have many radio standards for cell service, unlike the rest of the world. We all pretty much hate carrier branding but like it or not, it does signify at a glance what radios / carrier is supported.

I'm on Sprint, for example, and there's nothing you could do to your phone to make it work with my carrier. And my phone's lte radio doesn't match other American carrier lte frequencies.

Welcome to the American cell scene! :) :D

PS - so far as I recall, all of the SGS3 models here use the same battery.

Haha that you can. In benchmark test the U.S. version is just as fast as the international version. So, the dual isn't handicapped against the quad.

Where are those guys that either said the s3 wasn't coming to metro or that it will come out in December where they at :banghead:

And the dual core S4 incorporates a programmable world modem - rather than separate modem chip(s). It supports all cell transmission standards.

That's why all of the US phones use it. Lower production costs and fewer hardware variations, higher reliability.

Each one excels differently on synthetic benchmarks.

    They're both quite excellent. ;)

Anyway thanks for the info and welcome. Ill be back later in the morning .... well for you guys like... i dunno lol. But I have to be alive with my daughter in ohhhh 5 hours if im lucky. Ill check back and hopfully learn something new :)

Ill leave you with a few qs.

What speed does 4g provide? as its coming over here end of the year. Does it kill your battery? Should I splash out on the Lte 2gb version or would I see no difference in performance ? And lastly do yu get the same ICS features over the pond ???

    Thanks adam.

The hysteria here is kind of ridiculous. It reminds me of how people were acting around this time last year when the Esteem was about to come out and look at how little you guys care about the phone now.

I mean I would understand if we were talking about a phone that comes with a projection system that shoots a keyboard from the phone to any surface...but we're not. It's just a fast, modern, spiffy looking phone and in a year from now you'll have the same regard for it that you have for the Esteem now.

Haha you right but for me this time around is better after learning more about android the past two years now i want performance and speed dual core more ram just to handle daily simple tasks that my esteem handles but at a slower pace honestly there will be bigger and better things coming out like the note 2 and things like that but the s3 for me will be a perfect phone since I'm not a gamer it will take better pictures and videos on a nice super amoled screen running cm10 this phone will ease my cravings for a while :)

    Right,

Maybe the next phone will be more appealing to you.

Well you got a point yea but is more "naw". The difference now between the release of this phone and the esteem is that; Right now metropcs is getting a hold of the current BEST and most long lasting phone at this time in par with the current top carriers . When the esteem came out there were already better phone and highly eneded than the esteem by release ...

    Exactly,

Figured this was obvious enough to go without saying.

You blokes in the UK usually see updates before we do.

Overall, features are the same. Sometimes, one of our phones can lose a feature due to patent fights with Apple. In those cases, we root and restore the missing features.

LTE speeds vary. I've seen it range from 10 to 20 Mbps downloads and beyond.

LTE uses more power as a rule of thumb, but the difference will depend on the LTE frequencies involved and signal strength from tower.

    Hope this helps. :)

Well fuzzy honestly you got a lot of work to do once we get the s3 we will need to start from scratch again and running cm10 will take care of that little issue :D on that note should the devs open up the samsung galaxy s3 for MetroPCS :Dall things rooted damn that sounded sexy

Oh I know. Im honestly kinda scared. Im soooo used to my Esteem that learning a new phone is going to be like learning all over again. like all scared to root it and stuff. lmao

BUT, I've made my Esteem to look like stock JB/ICS just like a lot of other people, that part will already be taken care of. lol

Just got an update from one my sources some stores might have it for next Friday, with an introduction in the first week of October and the price that I was told was $499 so it sounds solid at this point but of course not 100% but pretty confident though so let's see ;):D:)
    Oh boy oh boy
