Hi, I'm new to this Forum and just recently bought an Eris. Since I had about a week to spare before my new billing cycle kicked in, I thought I'd play with the wireless part of my new phone at home before committing to it. Lo and behold, the startup screen was forcing me to call and activate my phone. When I contacted cust. support, they told me I couldn't do anything until I activated my phone. Well, (and sorry for those who already know this..) if you initiate a call and immediately hang up, the phone thinks that the call couldn't go through and instantly opens up the startup home page. Bang, now I've setup my contacts, gmail, wifi, etc. without worrying about pro-rated charges. Just an FYI.
