Getting the MSL & Loading Sprint PRL

I am looking to see if anyone has had any luck getting the MSL for their Venture. A friend just got one and I would like to make some "tweaks" for him, including trying to load a Sprint PRL to it.

He does not necessarily need to have his phone rooted, so unless it's required, I would like to skip this step.

    Thanks!!

    Sooryy ^^ I am just confused ^^'
why do you want a sprint prl on it?

    I didn't put a sprint prl but
i did change my prl version on my Htc Wildfire S (marvelc)

I recommend rooting & putting a custom rom on it to get the most out of it like this one

1 step at a time. Right now, I have 2 problems that I can easily fix with the phone's MSL that others may want also:
    1) I want to change the SID to 0 (or 4418, my local SID) instead of 4139
    2) I want to load a Sprint PRL so my Airave will stop cockblocking service to his Virgin Mobile phone.

If I need to root it to do this, I will.

    you will probably need root
if you succeed on the chaning prl let me know so i can try it on my venture ^^

Here's a quick cut/paste (I crossed out parts not relevant to the Venture) of how to update a PRL from a different phone w/o needing root. This phone should be similar, but I need the MSL first. #3 and #4 did not bring up any options and may not be needed steps with this phone. I think I may have drivers installed thanks to PDAnet that may work with this, but I won't have access to my friend's phone until sometime next week.

    Updating the PRL
Once you know your MSL, you need to download and install the program QPST 2.7 Build 323, it might be possible to use another version of the program but this guide was made using version 2.7 b323. QPST is not a paid program but is intended for developers, providers and maintenance technicians, according x-drivers.com the software is

Thanks. It may be another driver needed or another driver used by pressing a certain key combination on the phone to change modes (like DIAG mode). Not sure and I don't have access to the phone at the moment.
