I shut of WiFi and the GPS antenna and shut the phone off and charged it to full. Once I restarted it (a few times) everything has settled down and it is back to normal.

Of course they're not new, no-one thinks they are. They are improved, the battery info significantly so, hence getting some comments.

I'm really liking it. The phone works much faster and slightly better battery life. But I also like the new "download" icon which allows you to see what you have downloaded and lets you delete anything you don't want and I also like the "manage apps" option in the menu. At the bottom it tells you how much space is available and how much is free and when you click the "on SD card" menu it shows which apps can be installed on the SD card. If you haven't chosen to install it on the SD card just place a check mark next to the app so you can move it to the SD card. When I checked this I was surprised to find out that I had not moved 2 apps to the SD card. Surprised because I thought I had made sure that I had moved everything that I could to the SD card.

With regards to the keyboard I agree that it is an improvement over the Froyo keyboard. I had actually downloaded the GB keyboard a few weeks ago so I was used to it but I am still disappointed that the Android keyboard is not as good as the IPhone keyboard. Google needs to do a little more work on making it better. But overall GB is a step up over Froyo. Remember, Android is a work in progress so its only going to get better and better.

for people using launcher pro, when you use the phone icon at the bottom of the screen, did it always go to the call log? i thought it went to the dial pad. just a minor thing

I'm getting an annoying delay when my phone rings I'll answer it, I say hello but the person on the other end can't hear me only after about 2-3 seconds.

I think its the last one you used. So if you called someone from the dialer it goes to the dialer, and if you used the call log to make a call it will go to the call log.

    You're not saying "Hello" right.

When i'm in launcher pro my app drawer lags and won't let me click on any of the bottom of the apps it shoots up to the top of the apps. Anyone else experiencing this problem.

Are you using the 3D app drawer settings?. I'm guessing its a Launcher Pro bug with GB as I had the same issue with the LP's 3D drawer:confused: I unclicked the "Use 3D Drawer" in the LP's Advanced settings for now. I would think/hope they would come up with a fix in a future update.

I am facing some issues with data network connectivity. Internet on my phone network no longer works, though WiFi works perfectly fine.

    *Warning Rant ahead*

Ooooh I HATE this lol. Thanks for reminding me. No its not a launcher pro thing its a gingerbread thing. The gingerbread dialer automatically goes back to the last option you used to make a call and it confuses the hell out of my friends who press the phone icon expecting digit keys.

If I wanted to scroll through contacts or favorites I would put either contacts or favorites shortcut on my homescreen.

Whats the FRIKKIN point of having a "dialer" shortcut that doesn't even go to the frikkin dialer the majority of the time. I mean we already have a contacts and favorites shortcut.

    Whose bright idea was this???

The dialer worked perfectly fine in froyo. I would press it and numbers popped up. Soooo what was wrong with that where Google needed to change it????????? Smh

I must say this has got to be my top gripe with gingerbread :-D

Its the little things that bug us the most....

Btw who knows of any great replacement dialers in the market? I have to fix this.

Wow that was quick I just went on the market and found an awesome free app called dialer2 it looks based off the gingerbread dialer but solves all my issues. The appearance is also better in my opinion

Y'all should check it out. I also think its better than dialer one its definitely way less bloated.

This is happening to me too, but I assumed this was just the other person's phone, lol.

ahaha, i thought something changed, although the response from Rightontime also makes sense too, i thought i was going crazy. i'll check out dialer2, thanks!

Well, I was waiting for the OTA update to come to me, but decided to just do the manual one this morning. Everything went by fine, but I do have an issue.

When i enter the application drawer, the scrolling is all messed up. I can scroll all the way down if I do it really fast, but if I do it slowly, it gets stuck on top. When I go down and hit an application, it reverts back to the top of that window.

My phone is not rooted, and I am running launcher pro.

    Hmm, Solved.

I guess the 3D drawer was causing issues. Turned it off and we're back to normal.

Hello, I am new to this forum and hope that someone can help me. I downloaded Gingerbread a couple of days ago on my Nexus One, and the updates seems to be nice and all, but now when I want to send an email from the Email app (which I'd been using so far without any problems), it won't pull email addresses from my contact list... so annoying! I have to go to the contact list, select a contact and email him/her from there. Is this happening to anyone else? Thank you!

Go to the About Phone section and click on Battery Use and then click on the gray bar at the top of the screen. It's pretty neat.

Aw, sad face. Got my update day before yesterday and after the thrill of the new screen off animation (followed by NO! They've changed the keyboard and I HATE it, followed by Oh, actually this is better...), I realised that what has been a flawless phone since day one (dust under screen aside) has now turned into a battery rapist.

I've tried the whole turn everything off and on again (I'm in ICT support, standard first step!) many times to no avail, and in any case, you shouldn't have to do that just to make your phone work normally!! Pre update I could go 36 hours of medium usage without having to plug in.

Anyway, rant over. The battery just completely died, hopefully that'll fix it (mmm, these straws I am clutching at, they are very nice).

Overall though, black > grey :)

Plus, Gingerbread's more about what it brings to developers, not to end users directly. It might not necessarily affect us, but those who have phones with more cameras/sensors and the like will be able to have a better choice of apps that utilise them. Winner! Fingers crossed for HTC to produce Nexus 3 :D

    Also, MEGAlol at this.

    I'm on the fence:

Like: USB connectivity seems a lot faster
Like: Automatic APP2SD - this is really good
Like: Better bluetooth headset control (allegedly, haven't tried it yet)
Like: More memory, if that's actually the case.

Dislike: My phone has rebooted itself twice now, never did that before
Dislike: With a passion - my work can push security policy to my phone through Exchange now. Couldn't do it before. Now it has to have a screen lock, and I hate this while I'm in the car.
Dislike: It's duplicated some albums in my music list for some reason. All my songs are ID3 tagged and now it's decided it likes some songs so much it will list them twice.
Dislike: Battery. I think it's worse, especially when using the phone, seems to drop quicker.

Don't Care: What colour my notification bar is.

Gingerbread fails on the most important aspect of a smart phone...

    Battery life!

What good do all those fancy UI changes do me if they are killing my battery?

Switched back to the official MIUI Mod 3.4 and my battery life is excellent.

I don't understand how MIUI Mod, a more UI intensive ROM has better battery life than even Gingerbread...
