ok this really feels like a dumb question, but how do I manage/edit my contacts that are backed up to gmail? I don't mean manages them through the contacts app on the phone. I mean actually seeing them online at gmail and editing them that way.

this is related but still completely different...for some reason when I receive a text message from certain people it never shows in the log. I'm using handcent with the pop up. the message will appear on the pop up but not in the message log. it doesn't occur for everyone, jusy the same two people every time.

this is why I want to manage my contacts. somehow these two contacts have been backed up twice and both the original and double contacts are on my phone. when I tried editing the contacts through the contact app, it shows two gmail contacts under one synced contact.

oh lord. I just read my post and even I don't understand what I'm talking about. can someone please help?

So you mean edit the contacts within GMail itself, on your computer? You sign into GMail, and in the upper left hand corner you click "Contacts" and you can edit individual contacts there.

I think there is also a way to merge duplicate contacts in there. So be on the look out for that too.

Don't use the app, go to gmail from your browser, and you will be able to edit your contacts from there.

Couldn't you just go to gmail.com from your browser on your phone, log in, and see and edit the contacts there?

Edit. i tried it, and you need to select "desktop" from the bottom right after logging in, then contacts will be visible.

I guess you could try mobile GMail: http://m.gmail.com .

I have never used the mobile version of GMail. I suppose it will perform what you need though.

desktop...I'll try that. thanks. I'd go the proper procedure and hit the thanks button and quote people, but I'm on my phone and things get a bit difficult when I do those things from my phone (long story, maybe there's someone who already knows what I'm talking about)

Glad to hear you were able to accomplish what you wanted to. You gotta figure it would work when three of us came up with the same suggestion. ;):D:)
