Help Gmail stopped pushing to my phone

Not sure why but yesterday, my gmail stopped pushing through. If I hit refresh it will come through. Any ideas as to why this has happened?

Happened to me starting around yesterday afternoon. Still ongoing, I thought it might be related to the update since I had just updated the phone.

Same here. I went online at home and was surprised to find over 20 new emails. So my phone stopped pushing too. Has anyone figured if its server side or phone side?

I haven't had this issue with either of my gmail accounts. Not sure what is causing it.

My Gmail and Exchange sync are both acting very laggy.

Ok so out of nowhere, I heard the mail notification sound and I had new mail. It just started working again out of nowhere and without my doing anything to the phone.

ditto. i was checking all my settings and everything seemed in order ... next thing you know ... tadaa! e-mail notification.

I have an R2D2 Droid that I received 2 weeks ago. The phone was 3 days old and I had this same issue. Only way to resolve it was to wipe the phone and start over. I tried EVERYTHING else possible.

this is a known issue. the only fix that i know of - albeit a temporary one - is to go to settings-->applications--->Gmail and clear the data cache and then re-sync. Gmail will push for a few days and then stop again until you repeat the fix. not sure what's causing this or what the permanent fix is. hopefully Gingerbread.

it is critical that you not kill GTalk in running processes as that is the protocol that Gmail uses for push email. also you want to make sure that you have checked and enabled "always on mobile data" in wireless settings.

i never use the GTalk app and always sign out - but as a test - i am going to sign in and let it run. i know this may hurt battery life but i'm going to try to see if it keeps the Gmail push active.
